Quiet island off Sambawa. Perfect for snorkelling and relaxing

Transport from Sambawa was difficult to find. More advertising required. This is not on the hotel though just be warned you will need to organise transport to reach the island.... There is a local ferry.

"Best place to stay in Moyo"

10.0

We really enjoyed our 4-day stay at Sunset Moyo. The accommodation is centrally located in the village and offers beautiful direct access to the sea via the terrace. The terrace itself is wonderfully designed and perfect for relaxing for hours. The sunsets from there were absolutely stunning . For us, it was the best place on Moyo to enjoy the sunset every evening. The entire property is thoughtfully designed with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The many plants and small lights create a charming ambiance both during the day and at night. Our host, Jeff, gave us a very warm welcome and took exceptional care of us throughout our stay. He truly went above and beyond to help us plan our days on Moyo. Beyond that, he was always open for a friendly chat, which made the experience even more personal and enjoyable. We felt completely comfortable and well looked after the entire time. The rooms are lovingly decorated. We stayed in one of the traditional huts, which did not have air conditioning, but thanks to the clever traditional design, it remained pleasantly cool throughout the day. Two fans were also provided. Everything was extremely clean and well maintained, and thoughtful touches such as water, shower gel, and shampoo were included. We truly loved our stay with Jeff at Sunset Moyo and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere with an incredibly caring and dedicated host. Thank you to the entire Sunset Moyo team for everything!

Nothing, really everything was perfect!

"Don't Recommend. Needs improvement."

4.0

The property on Moyo Island has real charm and the location is stunning, but at 2 million IDR per night I expected a lot more. The biggest issue was non-stop construction noise right next to the villa — all day and well into the evening, so you couldn't even enjoy the sunset in peace. For this price point, that's a dealbreaker. A few other things stood out: breakfast wasn't included, which is fine, but when I asked for a basic tea and coffee I was charged 60k IDR for two packets — that felt cheap for a "villa" experience. There were also cobwebs in parts of the villa, giving the impression it hadn't been occupied or properly cleaned in a while. There's no WiFi either — I had to ask the owner to use his phone hotspot just to manage basic things online. I'd also suggest having the AC running before guests arrive and providing a kettle with hot water as a basic amenity. After a 2.5-hour boat ride, walking into a hot room isn't a great welcome. The strangest moment was at checkout — the owner had missed charging me for a drink, then tracked down the owner of my next accommodation to collect payment. A bit awkward. The property itself has potential, but I'd actually recommend Blue EmOcean Eco Dive Resort instead — better maintained, larger rooms, more character, and the AC works properly. Ask for Andrew. Worth revisiting once the construction wraps up, but right now it doesn't deliver on the price.

Construction noise all day/evening long. No wifi Poor AC NO basic amenities, coffee or tea in morning. Limited Menu Nickel and Dime mentality Room was dusty with cobwebs.

Everything. We had a wonderful time. Great location - it's beautiful and the food was great. So chilled and definitely the best place to stay in our opinion!

The only tricky thing was the water. Our shower was literally a trickle and sometimes not even that.
