The Guiding Monk Home Stays

You have to go through a stiff slanting road to reach the home stay. It is really good to stay there. However food is quite expensive.

Cleanliness was upto the mark. View from rooftops was exquisite.

We liked the location of the homestay as well as the height at which it is located. You can have a meal while having a fabulous view of Mount Kunchenjunga peaks on a good sunny day. The homestay is also near to Darjeeling Railway Station which makes it convenient for you to go for joy rides on a toy train. We also liked the behavior of Mr. Amit who is the owner of this homestay. He is helpful as well as guides you well regarding your stay in Darjeeling. The washroom as well as rooms were well maintained and clean.

Nothing major as such but as the homestay is located at a good height and therefore it is not easily accessible for you if you are traveling with Elderly people or Kids otherwise it's a value for money property.

The room was too small and is located on a steep uphill which was difficult to reach with the luggage. Too many rules and restrictions for such a place.

Food. Extremely high rate food.It cost INR 300 for a single Veg Thali which is not worthy, as quantity is not sufficient and also for 300 there is no such variety of dishes. Very bad experience with food.

First thing first - the location of the property is truly breathtaking. The dining area is directly facing the Kanchengunja which is clearly visible on sunny days and the railway tracks of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railways crosses just from the front of the property. You can easily view the toy train moving up and down the town. About the property - the rooms are cozy, clean, well sanitized and super comfy. Our host and also the manager of the property Mr. Amit Nigam was always beside us since the day of our arrival. Be it drinking water, arranging cabs for city rides or daily meals, our host has truly provided us with excellent service. We were traditionally welcome on the arrival of the property which was truly heart warming. The property has a in house kitchen which serves delicious meals. But the items in the menu are too limited and the price as per my opinion is a bit high. This can be improved in the future. Other than that the property deserves a 09/10 score in every aspect. The main thing about the property is it is pet friendly - we had our li'l Bagheera (cross breed dog) accompanying us thime time in our trip and The Guiding Monk Homestays didn't fail to give good care to Bagheera. We just had to carry his own bed and eating bowls, other than that his food and everything was well managed by Mr. Amit himself. We are for sure going to be here back again in our next visit to the queen of hills. (P.S. - The property is located on a hill top kind of area, therefore it may be hard for aged persons to climb up that height)
