Holly House Homestay

Great location in Ella, yes up a steep little hill but absolutely fine - 5min walk. Host was lovely, provided water (120 rupees) at the accommodation which was a great touch. Lovely balcony for a chill in the morning. Room was clean and in good condition, toiletries provided (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, soap). Air con all worked well. All in all a great stay.

In Pool würde die Unterkunft nochmal extrem aufwerten. Auf der schönen Terrasse wäre der perfekte Platz dafür

Kamer was in orde, alles schoon en goed verzorgd. Bedden waren prima. Wifi werkte goed en ook was er altijd warm water. Je kon er je was laten doen tegen een vergoeding. Personeel was erg aardig maar sprak geen woord Engels, dus bij elke vraag moest met de eigenaresse gebeld worden.

Het is een hele klim naar boven...wij hadden een kamer op de 1e verdieping en keken tegen een betonnen muur aan. Dat viel wel tegen. Klim je heel die heuvel op, heb je nog geen uitzicht! Ook was er elke dag een bulldozer aan het werk in de aangrenzende tuin wat veel geluidsoverlast veroorzaakte. Gelukkig was het 's avonds en 's nachts lekker rustig.

Die aunterkunft war sehr sauber und sehr gross. Alles war super. Das Badezimmer hatte leider einen eigenen Duft (etwas schimmlig- was aber bei vielen Badezimmern in Sri Lank der Fall ist). Sauber war es aber sehr. Die Vermutetin war sehr freundlich und hat und sogar einen Wäscheservice angeboten.

Pour un home stay, peu de contact avec les propriétaires qui ne parlaient pas anglais c’est dommage.

Nos encantó, la ubicación perfecta ya que no estás en el bullicio de la calle de los bares, pero estás muy cerca. Teníamos todas las comodidades necesarias, la cama comodísima de las mejores de Sri Lanka. La familia que regenta el homestay fueron muy amables y no los escuchamos en ningún momento. Ni nos molestaron, todo perfecto. Tiene tetera, café, té. La habitación es grande. Tiene mosquitera y ventilador. Una nevera gigante. Unos sofás y una mesa. El aseo es bastante grande y completo. Agua caliente.

This place legitimately looks like the photos! Everything is brand new and looks immaculate. Everything was incredibly clean. I saw no bugs (other than a couple mosquitos that snuck in), no vermin, no smells, nothing. The wifi worked perfectly and without any issues so I could get work done. The location is fantastic. It is up a high hill (as are most accommodations in the area, it is a very hilly region), but once you are at the bottom of the hill, the main street of Ella is right there. The value is unbeatable. I'm an aloof person, and the family was friendly and smiled, but just let me be. I'm an introverted solo traveler and was hesitant about a homestay, but this worked out nicely.

If you want a completely quiet place, this might not be it currently. They have a younger child that, as seemingly every young child does, speaks at full volume. There is also construction going on next door (outside of the family's control). I was able to sleep just fine, but I am just pointing it out for others. If you're planning on being out and exploring the region during the day, it is a non-issue.
