Canjahawon Nipa Hut Homestay

So peaceful. The worker at the bar was absolutely amazing, completely transformed my stressful evening into a lovely one. Played his keyboard while we watched fireflies and it was so nice. Thank you!

The room is definitely nicer in the pictures! Obviously tons of bugs (to be expected in a place like this) but there were so many in and on my bed because the mosquito net isn’t big enough to fit the bed and there are holes on it. As mentioned by most, the road is pretty crazy but I would say just try to drive there in the daytime and you’ll be fine.

Nice huts once built, never under kept. Once something is broken it will never be repaired. No cleaning at all. Only the half written on the menu was available. No coffee in the morning. 2days in a row, not in stock.

The location is really beautiful, you're in the middle of the jungle and it's super quiet. We also got some cute fireflies at night in our room it was very special. Food is good, they do themselves coffee and hot chocolate, try it!

We were here end of December and it can rain quite a lot. Keep in mind that you're in the jungle, it rains even more and it's wet. We had a lekkage because of the rain, dropping right in our bed and the shower head did not work. Unfortunately we did not think that the staff was really helpful. Keep also in mind that the way there is quite difficult, again when it rains even more difficult. I guess this place is way more enjoyable when the full dry season. We felt very privileged to stay there, but it added more complications in our stay than the opposite. If you're a little adventurer, love wildlife, being away from civilisation (no internet and cold shower) then this place is for you. Oh and check your shoes for spiders before you put them on!

Very nice stay in the middle of the jungle. Staff was super nice and helped me to learn some Tagalog. I had dinner and breakfast, and both where tasty! Saw some fireflies at night. Next morning did a tour around the farm, which I enjoyed very much. Basic but perfect stay, great value for money!

Serenity, all you hear is nature, the sense of disconnect

I don't often write a bad review, but I would really like to prevent people from going here. The pictures on the internet? The stories about the hospitable people? There was none of this. Upon arrival we were not warmly received, someone reluctantly showed us our accommodation without any explanation and walked meters ahead of us. Once settled in our cabin (where there was half a roll of toilet paper and an empty bottle of mosquito spray) we decided to go to the general area to get to know the people there. But instead of being received there, we received a curt answer to the question if we could have something to drink, that everything was gone. Eyes were rolled and we were completely ignored. The atmosphere felt very bad and hateful. I have never felt so unwanted anywhere. We had prepared ourselves for a back to basic adventure and to get to know the Philippine culture and the people there. But we quickly packed our things, while packing our things one of the hosts walked past us ignoring us and didn't give us a single glance. I would give everyone an adventure in the jungle in a hut. But not here, not with these people.

If you’re looking for an off grid adventure this is the place to go. The last road is not easy to drive with the motorcycle especially when it rained because it can be very slippery. Its a steep hill but it’s worth when you reach the destination. It is a very unique experience. You have a very beautiful view over the rice terrace. I got to cook my own food in their open kitchen with their ingredients. Which I thought was super nice.

At night there were many wildlife creatures who came to join us, if your afraid for huge spiders this isn’t the place to come. In the middle of the night we woke up because of two geckos who were having a race in our hut. And in the morning the chickens and a rooster came to say hi. But it was certainly a night we won’t forget!

It is secluded. close to nature, we find serenity and calmness staying here, A bit challenging going back to the place when the darkness overtaken, but totally fulfilling and satisfying. We love the sounds of nature, and the unforgettable experience was watching lots of firefly while laying on bed🙂🙂 Too many to mention amazing things at Canjahawon, You better come and See🫶🏻🫶🏻
