The room was nice & the family was polite.

We were received in the warmest possible manner. Our host was extremely helpful in organising safari trips around Thekkady. The upstairs terrace offers an absolutely stunning view over the surroundings. I highly recommend anyone to book! (Travelling with a family of four)

Host was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. On arrival he sorted us front row seats to that nights cultural show, booked an all day safari the following day and sorted out a laundry service so our clothes were clean the following night after safari. The room itself was clean and organised with an immense view of the mountain for sunset on the balcony. The nearby resturants (grandma's cafe) and chilled out vibes of the town made the stay incredibly memorable. Many thanks again for all the help was a pleasure.

Great place to stay! If you can stay more days to get the feel of it and appreciated it even more. Really friendly family! Helping you with your trips and activities, looking after you and even giving you a ride to town sometimes if it comes convenient to the host. Great cooks as well. Good wifi, superb view (if you get a room higher up facing the green!). Botteled water, toiletpapier, towels, soap, all there. I really loved the big, comfy bed with mirrors behind it.

Make sure to have a good view and balcony! Not facing a wall from next door neighbour. The shower in one room was not very good, but in the next is was really nice and hot. Spacious rooms, but no shells to put your clothes when unpacking. But since there is plenty of space I just put it on the floor and it was really clean, so that works just fine. These are just little things. Especially for the price this place comes highly recommend for all the reasons above.

We really liked our room. The bed was really comfortable. We had room 1 on the higher floor by the end of the balcony so it felt a bit more private and I think it had the best view. It is a lovely view and in a quiet area. The room was a nice size and the bathroom was nice. It was all clean. We especially liked being able to sit outside and watch the Langur Monkeys in the trees opposite! It was definitely handy to have our binoculars. It was roughly a 10-15 walk (or a quick tuk tuk ride) into the area where there were lots of restaurants and cafes. We especially enjoyed the small vegetarian restaurant that Shukkoor recommended and enjoyed our first Thali meal there. Shukkoor and his family were friendly and helpful and he helped us arrange a brilliant jeep safari in Periyar Tiger Sanctuary (I definitely recommend doing this and we also did the longer hike in the park and the boating, the food was great too-cheaper if you can share a jeep with other guests as we did) and also a visit to the Martial Arts Show (brilliant!) He was also very kind and drove us to the bus station early on the last morning and made sure we got on the correct bus, this was so helpful and kind. We had hot showers and there was WiFi, this did not work well in our room and it worked best down at the communal seating area on the ground floor. He advised us on our journey to Allepey, we went by bus and ferry on the backwaters and we absolutely loved this journey! Shukkoor gave us lots of advice over WhatsApp before we even arrived in India which we were grateful for.

More expensive than the majority of homestays we stayed in in India A little bit out of Kumily but we liked this as it was more peaceful and only a short walk in

Lovely, clean and spacious. Tasty freshly cooked breakfast. It's uphill from downtown Kumily, away from the bustle, catches the breeze - especially the rooftop deck. Great views as well. 15 min walk from town and only 5 mins from places to eat - try Grandma's Kitchen

A kettle in the room would be really nice. Could make a cup of tea and sit out on the deck. That would be bliss!

Last 400mts of road which is very narrow.

Chukru and his family were exceptional! We had a great stay with them. Their house has magnificent views and the food is delicious. They even taught us how to make typical Keralan dishes. Chukru really puts his heart into his business and would go far to please his clients, and always with a smile! This is by far the best homestay we had (travelling with 6) in India. Thanks a lot Chukru and family for your hospitality, generosity and kind-heartedness!

Mr. Shukkoor and his family are exceptionally hospitable homestay owners who go out of the way to ensure that their guests' stay is not only comfortable but also delightful. His assistance and suggestions for local activities and sightseeing are top notch as well, some a little bit off the beaten track, at relatively lesser known tunnels and hill-tops.
