"Xincheng-Taroko is a lousy place to stay, almost no decent restaurant. One better stays in Hualien"

stone hard pillows. Quite noisy all over the night due to trucks passing all the time. Poor accoustic insulation of the windows

"Far from everything but got bicycles"

They provide bicycles which is good because the place is kind of remote. With the bicycle, restaurants and convenience stores are reachable though.

Room seemed stuffy when arrived, needed to air it for few hours. Bed is too soft. The place is far from restaurants and stores but close to the train station.
