Secret Garden Agonda Beach Resort

Lovely gardens. Friendly and helpful stuff. Nice clean rooms. Our favourite part of the beach out of the hustle and bustle.

Would have been great if there was drinking water supply at reception. We bought 20l bottle from the shop at the gate.

Everybody super kind and available. Really nice rooms.

They let us in at 5am in the morning which was much appreciated. The first room was nice but instead of a garden view the was a wall. Moved upstairs day 2 and 3 and was much better. Very close to the beach and free breakfast.

They said we didn't rent a room there but at Mystique Rose 1 1/2km away but we could stay there at Secret Garden for the same price. Seeing as I never heard of this other place I knew something was up. After some discussion I just took the room as I had a major cold starting and did just stay in bed all day at the Secret Garden where I had booked. Later to find that they own several properties and guessing they shuffle you around to where is available. Glad I stayed at the Secret Garden as the other place was less desirable after accidentally finding it while touring around. When it came to paying there was a few hundred that was trying to be added to the bill which I caught and saved myself a few dollars there Just be on it and perhaps stand your ground. I did enjoy the stay and would go again, now I know their ways.

The staff was good and pleasant to interact, the rooms were basic and maintained well. The restaurant was next door and had decent food. The place was a minute away from the beach.

I had booked at Secret Garden however was accommodated at Rosa Mystica, a totally different property. Though after interacting with the owner he offered to let me stay for 1 night at secret garden, I didn't take the offer, as I didn't want to be packing and unpacking again. Wish if this was mentioned clearly on booking.com (the owner said it was but I couldn't find any reference during booking). Absolutely no network for airtel and bsnl, wifi also erratic due to electricity, no generator backup too.

The only person I would like to mention here posititive was the reception lady who really tried to help us and was more professional than even her Manager.

The location supposed to be great, as the property is right at the beach. Unfortunately there were issues that made the stay impossible for us. First of all the hotel highlights on its website to be petfriendly. As we travel a lot with our dog, we need to make sure the surrounding provides a save and clean environment, which was not given here. Due to a regular guest which stays at SG for many years there where at least 10 straydogs from the beach who were feed by her every day. Therefore they followed her anywhere and also lived on the property of the hotel. They tend to be very aggressive whenever we tried to get to the beach or even walking to the oder side of the hotel. They attacked our dog which is a strong and well mannered dog and even me and my husband. The Manager of the hotel (Godwin) was not willing to clear that situation in the first place, he just tried to get rid of the dogs once but they came back from the other side. It's definitely not the stray dogs fault as they got used to being feed at this hotel since many years but definitely human made problems. We decided to change hotels and asked for a refund which was not given in the first place only after talking to the local police and booking.com we got our money back. Also there was a lot of noise during the whole time due to construction going on every day which was not mentioned at the website. We were lucky to get a room in the hotel next door so we could spend two nice weeks in South Goa but we would definitely not recommend Secret Garden. Usually you get at least some water every day in the hotels but here you should pay for it, even the small bottles. We are frequent travelers but this was definitely the worst experience ever!
