"Authentic Himachal mountain village experience"

9.0

Hidden crest is indeed hidden for a reason - you have to really take a lot of narrow hill roads to reach here. But thats part of the experience - authentic Himachal mountain village. Staying here almost felt like staying at a cousins place. Aditya and Mitthu cooked meals for us. Fiddlehead fern and nettle leaf saag were some of the local specialities. Aditya told us about hikes and places to go. Unfortunately one day of the stay was a washout due to rain but the other day we could hike to a nearby temple. The view from the homestay was ever changing, with the washout day bringing waves of clouds floating up from the river valley. The food is quite good, although you have to give the hosts a bit of time to prepare. Internet is quite spotty, Airtel and Jio network coverage are bad and WiFi of the homestay works on and off. So its not a place for the typical remote worker to just open up laptop and login. Instead, come here to experience what it feels like to live in a remote mountain village in Himachal. If you come with those expectations, you will enjoy.

Meals were tasty but often delayed, but again thats keeping with the vibe of a laidback village. Also its understandable as one day Aditya was by himself. If meals can be more on time and advance notice of something not available will be given to guests, would be good. WiFi could be a bit better and stable. But these are not major negatives, and I can recommend someone who wants an authentic mountain village experience to come here.
