Casa do Centro

Location: In the hearth of the historic center of Abrantes, close to the castle at pedestrian street. We enjoyed a visit in the MIAA (museum of Iberic archeology and art) and a dinner in Sabores da Cascata, both within a short walk from the apartment. And remember to try palha de Abrantes, a local sweet sold in pastry shops around. Hotel: The apartment is located in a historic XIX century building and has amazing wooden floor. The apartments are located at the first and second floor (ground floor = 0). The first floor is occupied by the common area (a kitchen, a dining room and a sitting area). The second floor is occupied by three apartments (counting doors). Kitchen: large and fully equipped. Room: Large and comfortable, heated by air condition; electric sockets: accessible (however you must disconnect a lamp if you want to use a socket near the bed); lighting: good. Bed: large and comfortable. Bathroom: large, enough space for your toiletries. A bathtub combined with shower, a little bit slippery. We have got an electric heater to warm up the bathroom. Breakfast: On your own. A grocery is located just around the corner. Parking: Free parking, many places, at Rua dos Quinchosos, about 250m from the apartment.

Location: No access by car – for a simple reason, the street is too narrow. You must carry your bags from the parking about 250m. If you travel with a companion and you have many bags you may stop for a moment at the Largo de São João, unload the bags (and your companion), then go by car down to the parking. Such a way you will carry your bags only 100m and always down. Hotel: Long steep stairs (have a rail). A cost of a location in medieval center. Buildings inherit plots of medieval houses. As a result they are narrow and grow upward. The shared area (the kitchen, dining room and living room) are not heated (typical for many old houses in Portugal). Not a problem for most of the time, but in December it was not a cozy place. Kitchen is shared as opposed to the description (room description says private kitchen). Bathroom: Abrantes is a very humid place in winter. Humidity was condensating at the walls of bathroom. The problem was solved with an electric heater provided by the host.

Wonderful house equipped with all comforts located inside the old Town. Warm welcoming staff. We have loved staying there. Great relation price / quality
