The owners were very kind. Mr. Fujita picked us up at the train station, brought us to the supermarket and to a really nice top hill view site. The guided tour of the house was really interesting. It was only one night stay but we felt at home.

"Outstanding hosts. Historical house"

Wonderful hosts. Very nice house. However, we stayed in an annex that is on the other side of the street that has not the charm of the main guesthouse.

Nothing.

"The hosts were outstanding"

Wonderful hosts. Excellent property. Shame we couldn’t stay longer. Our host even called ahead to ask a restaurant to open to cook us a meal as we arrived on a quiet night. They were so wonderful and made the stay really welcoming. Thank you

"Step into the historical past of the Higashi Fujitatei"

9.0

My friend and I stayed in two very comfortable Japanese-style "washitsu" rooms. One room even had a garden view. The Higashi Fujitatei House is steeped in history and it was a very quiet and relaxing property. The bathroom had a deep, retro-style tile bathtub which was great for a long soak in the evening. The hosts gave us a ride to and from a nearby izakaya where we enjoyed a very memorable meal of local seafood and sake. They were both very kind. Just before our departure, we were given a tour of the entire residence and a history lesson on the storied past of Higashi Fujitatei.

The hot water in the bathroom was not that hot. I suppose that this was to prevent someone from getting scalded, and in all fairness, I should had asked if there was some additional adjustment that could have been made for hotter water for the bathtub. It wasn't a big deal. We had a great stay.

The couple who own the house were very kind and friendly. The building is a beautiful, old Japanese house and is a unique place to stay.

This rambling old guest house run by the delightful Mr &Mrs Fujita gave us a traditional and unique Japanese experience. We used the house as a base to explore the region. I would recommend renting a car as restaurants etc are in the next town.

Nothing.

I really loved the kotatsu, it was pretty cold weather and kotatsu provided much comfort. The room is spacious, you have kettle and tea. Wifi was working well. It was a nice stay overall and a cool experience of staying in a traditional old house. There is also a parking next to the house, which is very convenient if you travel by car. The elderly couple who own the place were very welcoming and kind, gave us advice where to get dinner and groceries, as there is not much in the town itself. We also got coffee and snack for breakfast.
