Kaha Island Stay

I would not stay here again. There was no hot water, despite the listing on Booking.com stating otherwise. When I brought this up with the host, their response was: “Try to figure out the year, ma’am. It’s already 2022, there’s been a lot of changes throughout the years.” Instead of addressing the issue, they were dismissive and unhelpful. Very disappointing experience.

Kaha island stay is a really great choice if you want a chill, relaxing stay in the North for not too expensive. The accommodation was in a lovely location and had scooters available to rent directly through them, this made getting around so much easier. We booked the double beds in a shared room, they were huge and so comfortable. The staff are quiet but friendly. There is nothing bad to say about this property, we had a wonderful stay.

Such a gorgeous location- only a few minute walk from the beach in a small town only lived in my local Filipinos. This also is the best form I’ve stayed in over the past month in the Phillipines - super comfy bed, good AC, clean, stylish, and above all there was enough space!! Also nice to have the outdoor bathrooms and communal area.

The staff were really sweet but rather inconsistent communicators - they quoted me 400 pesos/day for my bike and when it arrived they said it was 500/day due to the model they’d arranged. It was also tricky to get their help to book a Tuktuk, they gave inaccurate advice re the local food options (saying things were closed when they weren’t), and my laundry came back later than planned (almost after checkout) still smelling dirty. They tried really hard to hard though, were always friendly, and kept the place nice and clean.

I liked the layout of the dorm room. It gave me plenty of space to assemble my surfboards. There are two ACs in the dorm room and they were plenty strong. The toilet is in a separate room from the shower, so no wet seats.

The water pressure in the showers was very weak. Wifi didn't reach the dorm. You had to go to the living room to get reception. The toilets were often out of toilet paper. One of the toilets is missing a seat and lid. There was one power outage that lasted a whole day. Maybe get batteries to store energy from the solar panels?

The Staff were very friendly and wanted to help in any way they could. The room was big, clean and very comfortable. Much more fancy than I was expecting. The location was amazing, only a hundred meter walk to the beutiful surfing beach

I had a private room but as there were hostel rooms and a common kitchen area, there was noise both in the evenings and early moring. It wasnt a massive issue but something to note if you prefer silence.

The location was great, just a short walk from the beach, which was very convenient. Additionally, there was a shared common area with a small kitchen, which was useful for preparing simple meals. These features were definitely a plus, but unfortunately, they didn’t make up for the overall negative experience.

We stayed here for three nights, and unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. The biggest issue was the mice – for two nights, we could hear them nibbling and trying to get into our room. On the second night, one actually made it inside, and we had to chase it out ourselves. It was impossible to sleep, and honestly, it felt unhygienic and unsafe. On top of that, there was no hot water during our entire stay, and we were never informed about it. The toilet didn’t flush properly, our room was never cleaned, and we had to keep asking for basic necessities like toilet paper and fresh towels. In the end, we were given 1,800 PHP back (about one night’s stay), but that didn’t make up for three nights of lost sleep and discomfort. I would not recommend staying here unless they seriously improve their cleanliness, maintenance, and communication with guests.

Very well designed, felt like an upscale hostel

One of the toilet seats was broken so it hurts to sit on esp the first time when it catches you off guard. Also the sliding doors to the bathroom area are pretty loud.
