Comfortable, quiet, friendly people

I was trying to craft a "do-it-yourself" tour of, first, the working monasteries in Bucovina, but then, secondly, a number of painted monasteries as well. Gura Humorului was a great choice for me as it was a central location for what I wanted to see. Varatec and Sihla Monasteries to the south and then the painted monasteries to the north in a grand circle. The Voronets and Humor painted monasteries are both in very close proximity to GH. From GH, one can visit a number of other painted monasteries as well. As to a different travel topic, it is fairly easy to get from GH to Tihuta Pass a.k.a. Bargau or Borgo Pass which was the purported location of Dracula's home in Bram Stoker's novel. I did this on my way out of Bucovina and into Maramures. (A different option is Prislop Pass, which is also easily reachable from GH.) As to Casa Irimescu, the owners are a kind, hard-working couple. If I understood correctly, they reside in the main house in the front while guests such as I stay in the building out back. My room was huge as was the adjoining bathroom. There was also an ample kitchen to use, and a sitting area too. Quite a lot of space!

The street their house is on is fairly easy to find. Just note that while it is easy to leave the lodging on the road to get to the main road through town, it is a bit trickier arriving, as one section of the road is one-way (and it is the section touching the main road, unfortunately!) Make use of Google Maps or similar to show you which roads you can use without breaking traffic rules! It is not impossible, just a bit tricky.

Very friendly. Easy to find. Smooth check in and out. Everything was perfect. The kitchen is very well equipped and we enjoyed the espresso machine. Nice balcony overlooking a garden. Quiet but very close to the centre and shops. Very safe. Highly recommend!
