I stayed for a week at Trang Vu Homestay and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The accommodation is basic but comfortable and represents excellent value for money. It’s in a good location, up a quiet side road just a couple of minutes’ stroll from the smaller of the two harbours. The second, larger bay, is a few minutes’ further on. There are plenty of good restaurants within easy walking distance, many overlooking the bay. There’s a nice sandy beach a short walk away that also has a few restaurants. The family running the homestay are lovely: very friendly and helpful. I didn’t have a fridge in my room but could get chilled beer from the fridge in the lobby along with a large thermos of chunky ice. I was often given free fruit and, when I came to leave, my luggage was taken to the harbour for free. There’s also plenty of snorkelling gear available that is free to borrow. Oh, I should also mention that free filtered water is available. As well as being more eco-friendly, it saves you the time, money and effort of having to get the bottled stuff.

A few times there were problems with my air-con but these were quickly fixed. In fact, having seen how the fix was done, I learned how to do it myself. It was nothing serious and did not adversely affect how much I enjoyed staying there.

In una parola questo posto è CASA. Mi sono innamorata dell'isola di Cu Lao Cham di questa homestay e soprattutto della famiglia di mamma Trang. Le stanze sono semplici e pulite, l'aria condizionata funziona bene, la mamma e la nonna vi faranno sempre trovare il te pronto e si prenderanno cura di voi, le amache per rilassarsi sono un plus. Consiglio a tutti questa homestay e se mai tornerò in Vietnam sicuramente tornerò qui.
