Manaeva lodge

The host, Reva, was pleasant. She picked us up from the airport and dropped us back really early the next morning which was a great help.

The two rooms we originally booked at this property were not available because one of those rooms was rented out to another guest. It was unprofessional but we were okay with overlooking it and worked with the host to come up with a solution. We were asked if we would be okay taking one large room instead but after we saw the room, we said no. It was literally a large hall with beds lined up. We were then offered an apartment a little farther away. The apartment complex seemed deserted but it was a good size and it looked clean so we decided to take it. We were there for just 7 hours (needed to spend the night). This was the experience: If we wanted a hot shower, we needed to turn off all the AC's and wait 5 minutes, the wifi had been 'broken' by a previous guest so we didn't have wifi, the toilet stunk like a public toilet, the beds were uncomfortable and shook like they were about to break, the faucet in the bathroom was barely hanging on the countertop, we were given a sheet to cover ourselves when sleeping and there were no extra blankets, etc provided. We were told that breakfast and dinner were included but neither was provided. It was not worth $421. Lesson learned: Stick to regular hotels.

After a long journey from the US, we appreciated the complimentary airport transfers and a comfortable overnight stay at the lodge before our flight to Bora Bora. While the accommodations were a bit dated, our room was clean, and the staff's friendliness was a welcome touch.
