The space is dusty and moldy, the bed super uncomfortable and the all space around feels like a messy construction site

Putu's homestay is special. It combines western comfort and cleanliness in the rooms with the opportunity to experience the way of life in an authentic Balinese village and a traditional family. The rooms are located next to the main house and have a separate entrance offering privacy. If you are interested and ask, Putu will also be happy to show you how his family and friends live in the village. It might - if you are lucky - also be possible to take part in one of the many Hindu festivities (respect and appropriate clothing required). For a small fee and by arrangement, Putu also offers motorcycle tours and shows both tourist attractions and spiritual places and explains the basics of his religion and rites. Putu's homestay is about 3 km outside the center of Ubud. So if the holiday-intention is drinking and partiying every night - this might be a bit far. For me it was no topic as one of Putu's friends or a Gojek /Grab driver is always available to take you to the center of town for 1 or 2 € per ride. I preferred staying in a non touristic village.
