Tanhui Modern Hotel

The room I have is very strange, very rectangular and it is a fire escape exit. In other word, if there is fire, people will have to open my room door, get through the window to get down. The staffs were nice and tried to help but spoke little English. The breakfast is good with ham, sausage, egg, coffee, milk, bread, coffee, and juice. It is located right next to the pier and next to a short trail. Shuishe Village is small so you can walk around for 10 minutes and cover the whole village.

It is a great location, being near to the pier and the visitor centre (where you can take the public buses). The staff was very friendly and helpful in giving us suggestions of what to do and directions. The only downside was that the room was very small (we took the small rooms and can only comment on the small rooms). Overall, a good place if you just want a convenient place to sleep and do not mind the small room. I guess you should upgrade if you want a bigger room.

Me and my parents booked a four-bedded room for one night. The hotel is close to the pier, the tourist center and parking. The room was very small and had no windows, no place to put a suitcase. However the bathroom was pretty big. Didn't have a chance to try breakfast (though I'm sure it was not good).

My boyfriend and I started our tour of Taiwan at the lovely Sun Moon Lake. We'd booked Tanhui well in advance to avoid the steep summer prices. A little hidden on the Main Street opposite Shuieshe Pier & harbour, we soon found the little hotel and we greeted by the nice lady who owns the place (unfortunately not much English!) The whole place is really more of a B&B or home stay. Our room was spacious enough for us to dump our heavy backpacks for 2 days. But the room (602) was very odd... Very narrow and long, with some pretty, er, lovely red velvet curtains and wallpaper on the ceilings. Suffice to say, the deco wasn't exactly up to date, but we didn't go all that way for a pretty room! As we only had 2 nights and 1 full day at SML (which as lovely as it was, was more than enough time to see everything), we only intended to use the hotel purely for crashing at the end of the day. However, during a bit of a storm, we found ourselves indoors in the evening, a bit more than anticipated. So the room was comfortable enough, very clean (which is something I am personally very picky about) and in an excellent location. I would definitely recommend it to anyone making a well worth it quick stop to Sun Moon Lake!
