Beautiful Location with a forest view and an open terrace attached to my room. Being a solo traveler , I was very comfortable staying with Sharda family as the really made me feel at home. The food was delicious and was served in the main dining area. Asheesh help me with the transport at a very reasonable rate. I am definitely visiting again with my family for a longer duration.

Everything. From the service to location to the view. The hosts are very hospitable and friendly. Would recommend anyday for a family vacation.

Everything about the homestay is beautiful. The view from the room is absolutely surreal with a beautiful garden. Host is super cooperative and courteous. Rooms are super spacious and family room with an additional room for kids was icing on the cake. Clean and tidy rooms. As mentioned Mr. Sharda is very much cooperative and in fact entire Sharda family is very soft spoken and cooperative. Highly recommended for families. Food was excellent. It was a perfect start to our trip to Himachal and also it is a perfect example how a Homestay should be. Thank you Sharda Family for such a fantastic hospitality.

The Homestay is special. The whole family is so welcoming and helpful. The room is spacious, comfortable, quiet and with a view. The homecooked food is delicious vegetarian food. It is away from the main Shimla area (The Mall/ Ridge), which means it is nice and peaceful (about 50 minutes walk or a short taxi ride).

The weather was unseasonably cold. Fortunately there is a fan heater in the room and they provide plenty of duvets plus hot water bottle, keeping us comfortable

We stayed at Vatsalyam for 3 nights. Lots of positives to write about. 1. Mr. Ashish is a wonderful host who took care of all our needs including arranging CABs for pick up from Chandigarh airport, local sightseeing, dropping at railway station and even helped planning the sightseeing itinerary. Since we were new to Shimla, it helped us a lot to stay tension free on planning the sightseeing and saved us a lot time. 2. Sumptuous Breakfast with a healthy and tasty spread. They ensured that there was always a paratha variety, porridge, cereal, cut fruits and bread / toast with butter and jam. Dinner was even better and at a nominal cost. Each dinner had soft and hot rotis, one paneer gravy, one dal, one sabji, steamed basmati rice, curd and pickle. The dinner was also concluded with a yummy dessert. The local delicacy Mahani served on our last evening dinner was top notch. We had requested for gobi sabji for all 3 days for our kid and they readily accepted our request. 3. Hot Tea and coffee were served 3 times a day. 4. Laundry was available at a nominal price. 5. There was a mini library to entertain guests with a voracious reading habit. 6. Mr Ashish and his family met and greeted us everyday without fail and enquired about the stay and facilities provided. 7. They always ensured the dining area was neatly set and fully prepared before any meal and on time requested. 8. And finally, the one thing that we booked this homestay for, didn't disappoint us - The balcony view of the valley. It was a sight to behold.

The only drawback that I would like to quote is the distance from the city centre but that is also a blessing in disguise as it provided a quiet and serene atmosphere.

The meals were excellent and we had both breakfast and dinner at the homestay. Asheesh, his Dad and his wife went the extra mile to make us feel at home.
