"Homestay with retreat quality"

10.0

Martam villiage homestay is spacious, clean and spotlessly run by the one-woman army Yishey Doma. Yishey never sits still but is always flying around on her feet and does everything in her power to help you poor traveler have a good stay. Martam village homestay has in many ways the qualities of a retreat and those who seek peace and contemplation in the beautiful and peaceful cultural landscape of the Rice valley have every opportunity to do so there. Yishey has extensive knowledge of Sikkim's culture, has written many books on the subject and will be able to advise the traveler on how to continue his exploration of the state. Martam villiage homestay also offers the opportunity to arrange cultural evenings with music and dance. The food was also lovely and a couple of days of wonderful vegetable soups cured my monsoon-induced runny nose. Thanks!

"For the traveller seeking harmony with nature in a calm, serene environment"

10.0

1. Very nice homestay experience 2. Very functional, well managed property 3. Ms. Yishey (owner) takes keen interest and is deeply involved in the day to day affairs. Mr. Pema too was always on his toes. 4. They seek guests' preferences/order for each meal well in advance and are punctual. 5. The mountain view from the top floor deck is beautiful and serene. 6. Cleanliness of guest rooms and washrooms is very good. 7. For the non veg lovers, we recommend Chicken Dry Fry; it is a must try. 8. Thankfully, the mattresses were NOT bouncy and hence no back pain when you wake up. 9. The staff (esp. Arun) is very courteous and ever-smiling. While not a negative point for us specifically - and we had absolutely no reason to complain - the limited options on the menu may disappoint travellers who seek a full fledged, buffet like menu.

Nothing to complain or whine.
