Jin Ping Homestay

We arrived after a drive over the Southern Cross Highway. They let us choose the room. All rooms were clean and nice, so the choice wasn't that easy. Then we went for dinner in the close town Chishang and afterwards we had the hot springs just for us. We were directly next to the river with them and were able to see the stars, while in a hot spring. The showers at the hot spring location (5 min drive from hotel) were also clean. We slept well and the next day we saw a beautiful big garden with lots of flowers around us (in winter!) and had a yummy taiwanese breakfast buffet just for us! It was wonderful!

The bathroom in the hotel smelled a bit like sulphur, but we didn't shower there as we did that at the hot spring.

Private Hot spring Pool After 16:30. 2 km away, , we enjoyed it a lot. Very Taiwanese breakfast buffet just for the two of us.

No coffee at all for breakfast. No English speaking, but translation worked well with google. Restaurants 7 min by car.

The owner is incredibly helpful and friendly, he made our stay amazing! The hot springs are great and we also cycled around Chishang. The rooms are spacious and clean, the homestay is very pretty, and there is water available as well as a delicious and healthy breakfast. Overall an incredible stay, mostly thanks to the hard work of the owner.

The homestay is a little way out of Chishang. There are buses but they are not very frequent, however for a short stay this was not a problem at all.

We were looking forward to the private hot springs after a long bicycle ride, but unfortunately we arrived too late and were told we could not go in the morning after breakfast because they drain the pool. Breakfast was fine but there was no coffee, tea or juice served - a first in Taiwan. No tea or instant coffee provided either.

Old for the rooms, not tidy up everyday, no hot water for bathing (next day repaired)

- Very friendly and helpful receptionist - Homestay was good for getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life, huge garden with beautiful flowers (the owner really takes care of the plants) and options to borrow their bicycle and/or car/motor if available - Facilities were sufficient, with a water dispenser and a kitchen with a microwave, stove etc to use - Room was large and comfortable

- Location is far from the main towns of Chishang and Guanshan, best if you have your own mode of transport to go out to eat/get groceries. We borrowed their bicycles but some parts of the streets have no lights and have stray dogs, so best to come prepared with a headlamp and steady composure if cycling at night. - Private hotspring is about 2km from the homestay - not a negative point but just something to keep in mind if you have limited time. Takes about 2 min by car and 15 min by bicycle (uphill). On the day we arrived, only 1 side of the hot springs seemed maintained, but maybe cause we came in low season. Toilet was in great condition.
