Location is poor, down a dirty narrow street with no local shops or amenities. This is not a homestay it is a room with an aluminium shopfront window facing onto a car parking area. Room had two large beds taking up nearly the entire room. Both mattresses are awful. we forfeited the money we paid to stay here and moved to another hotel. Booking this was a total waste of money for us.

The property is situated near the forest. We enjoyed waking -up with the sound of birds and creatures that we never saw. The property has one room and a bathroom. We walked to two beaches ( 10 and 30 minutes away) or was driven by our hostess. The hostess Sai and her partner are the most attentive couple that we met. They were very welcoming and going above and beyond to meet the customers’ needs. They help with the going around the island, to and from the beach. Sai can prepares an outstanding food and get natural beauties like coconut oil for sensitive skin, a rare wild honey and a pain relief ointment.

We spent three nights at homestay Mateoase and had a great time!!! The arrival was very well organized with shared taxis that took us straight to the accommodation. The room is simple, has everything you need and was super clean. The area is pleasantly quiet, the location is great as it is only a few meters from a very beautiful beach on the island and is very central. We could rent a scooter directly on site! The hostess is incredibly kind, we felt very comfortable and welcome in her homestay, everything from her kitchen is really excellent (especially the fresh coconut smoothie on her recommendation) and we can highly recommend the accommodation for a stay on Koh Kood !!
