Novita Homestay

Novita and her family are the nicest people ever. you really get the feeling of being with the local people of Bunaken Island. All 3 courses are absolutely lovely too!

I stayed at Novita for 6 days and I had a great stay. The family is friendly and very helpfull. I played games with the neighbor girls and they took me swimming. The food is very good and there is plenty. I liked to chill in the hammocks after diving or snorkeling. The beach is just a minute walk away. I would definitely come back

The matrass is very soft. I prefer a more stable one for my back. But that is a personal opinion.

Loved staying here and meeting Novita and her family! Food was delicious, everyone was so nice! Bunaken in general was such a great island loved our time here!

The food was OK.

The short story is that we had to leave before finishing our booking because the unbearable conditions of the accomodation. The landlady refused to change the dates at Booking.com (she said she could not, even when Booking.com messaged her to do so) and, although we had paid for the last day with no way to have a refund, we left earlier. Now, the details. We stayed at Deluxe Room, which is the top room with private bathroom. The main problem is that it is really impossible to sleep in the room: no mosquito nets (we were bitten constantly every night) and extremely hot even at night. The only way to be inside the room is setting the fans at maximum speed (with the noise and the risk to get cold when finally sleeping) and open all the windows. When doing so it is quite noisy and light enters at dawn (the curtains are not opaque, so useless for avoiding the early sunrise). Bye the way, there is a problem with morning praying in Bunaken because the new priest insists in using a loud PA equipment to sing and pray at 5 o'clock in the morning (believe it IS an issue, with every tourist and homestay complaining to the priest). Every morning. So, at 5, you will start listening to pretty loud religious songs and speeches through your wide open windows. Nothing to be against to given a reasonable timing, but, at 5 o'clock in the morning and in such an inconvenient room, yes, this can be a problem. This particular situation is not their fault. However, they should improve the facilities and don't lie in accomodation description (noise isolation?, no such thing: you WILL get up at 5 o'clock) if they want to guest anybody. Besides, we had some laundry and the price for doing it was extremely high. They told me 35000 IDR (the highest rate I have ever paid in Indonesia) for one kilo, but charged me 150000 IDR, and I am sure my clothes were not 4.2 kg (maybe when wet, who knows). Not judgement meant, just telling as happened.

Novita has a lovely family and the food was amazing. Very good value for money and I also loved the location in the village. Everybody was really helpful and friendly

If you like Homestay this is THE place! Very close to the ferry, very close to 2 beaches and just far enough from the music of resort places, it is a Perfect location on this island. Price is fantastic as it includes meals, and those meals are wonderful. Self serve tea/coffee/safe chilled water all day. They organised for me some trips; the people they chose were top rate, caring and safe, and through them I was able to do everything I wanted to do and more. Best of all are the owners. They have great English, really care about their guests, are extremely trustworthy and ensured a perfect stay. When I asked for something they went to amazing efforts to make it happen. Even though I there only a few nights, I miss seeing them. I have been in Indonesia a lot, so I have seen many homestays, and I say do yourself a big favour and stay here.

Loved everything. Only didn’t like saying goodbye.
