Deogarh Hills A Village Experience Property

Our Deogarh Village experience exceeded all our expectations. From the warm traditional welcome we received on arrival to arranging our taxi to leave Rohitashva and his family were simply wonderful. They truly provided a home away from home and made us feel like part or the family from the moment we met them - so gentle and kind. Having visited India many times we can say this was one of the best ever experiences. We felt like we got to be part of village life and understand local Mewar culture and traditions. Rohitshva planned an itinerary of activities for the 2 days we spent with them that gave us experiences that neither of us had previously experienced. We were shown around the surrounding local village and greeted with warm smiles by everyone we met. On our first evening we attended a puja (ceremony) at the local temple which was fascinating and very moving. During our time we also visited the local school as well as a significant memorial to Panna Dai (the extraordinary 16th century nursemaid to Udai Singh II) and a local cow shelter taking care of abandoned cows. In addition Rohitshva took us on 2 jeep safaris into the surrounding countryside and lakes at sunrise and sunset. Simply stunning. And Rohitashva is so knowledgeable about both the local Mewar culture and history and Hindu religion that we felt that we had really learned an enormous amount despite our relatively short stay. Their large house is beautiful and built in the traditional Rajasthani style and our room was one of the nicest we have stayed in while in India. The meals they prepared for us were also some of the best we have eaten and eating dinner under the stars was magical. Our stay was THE most memorable part of our trip to India and our only regret was not being able to stay longer.

The location and real village experience was the best of three weeks of India. Not to forget the people.

Everything was perfect. If I could mention something; it would have been nice to be able to sit in the garden or so. Thats " under construction" .
