THE GINGKO EYRIE

The location is just awesome. King suites are perfect for a family. The view from balcony is breathtaking.

Breakfast is what I did not like. Very limited options. Boiled eggs served was stale on the first morning, but they chnaged it. If you ask for a omelette instead of served boiled egg, they ask for extra money which is not justified. Very limited fruit options(I got only banana) . Bread basket not readily available. Milk cornflakes had to be asked. Sweet options are also limited to halwa (very less sweet). Overall, for travellers even in homestay needs to be provided with better breakfast as that's the staple food in the morning and only inclusion in the price charged.

The place was amazing, with cool interior decorations, view over the hills, beautiful gardens and even a tree house (unfortunately could not use due to rain, hopefully next time) hanging over the hills. The hosts were so cordial that they made the stay feel like at your home. Further the location is close to centre but tucked in a calm neighbourhood, also very close to Cafe Kalimpong (a must visit!).

Our hosts and their staff were very kind, friendly and helpful. The property was clean, spacious and had several open areas for having outdoor meals or children playing with the pet dogs. Overall it felt like home away from home.

There wasn't much to dislike except a few minor niggles with the 'King Suite 1' room we were staying in. The spring mattress is likely getting old and tends to sink on one side. The wash basin is right behind the shower, so no dry-wet area separation is possible. No shelves/rings/hooks for towels/clothes in the toilet. Using a room heater requires moving the large sofa due to the placement of the plug behind it. No reading desk. But these are minor issues that would matter only over a longer stay.
