Whitland Apartment

The building manager was nice and proactive in terms of checking in/out. The room was tidy, spacious, and had good storage with a convenient desk. The wifi is also consistent and fast and the location offers good transport links to town.

There was a distinctly bad smell throughout the house, but the cleaner came semi regularly and it never got better so it felt like something that wasn’t going to change so I left it. It was like a mouse or something had died but it was so permeating particularly in the kitchen and living area that it made the plates smell which to me is crazy. They required washing before using, and they had clearly not been used in some time so it couldn’t really be faulted by an inconsiderate guest. At first glance they were clean with no residue or anything but the smell was strongest in the cabinets so I think they took on the smell. The bedding also smelled distinctly of ‘person’, like some element of the bedding hadn’t been washed enough. Which is hard to excuse as just the detergent. The bathroom also had mould in the grout and in corners though didn’t smell as bad as downstairs, despite being the storage place for a mop sitting in old water for a week. I was just glad I had shower shoes but that could be more of a me thing. I stayed for just over 2 weeks and frankly I contemplated moving from the first day I got in. Unfortunately I didn’t have the money to book another place without a refund, and while you do get what you paid for, I think even this was below par for what one calls accommodation. It reminded me of some of the worse student digs in the area to be honest and if that’s what you’re okay with then have at it. I gave some of the bad reviews the benefit of the doubt which I regret, but being fair this could have been a bad time for the property (what with the mouse dying). If were not for the odor and general feeling of uncleanliness this place would be great for a short stay. I can’t say I personally would come back though. While I’m aware some of these issues like the bedding could have been raised by myself, with the state of the rest of the house I wasn’t optimistic for any solutions, if I got one, that would be offered.

-no clean bedding on arrival covered in visible stains - one unwashed towel for whole stay ( booking was 2 adults ) -burnt out dangerous plug socket was only one in room -very small room for 2 - sofa and bathroom we had to and buy cleaning supplies for -1 dirty pillow each - floors were filthy and no bath mat in the bathroom I nearly slipped twice as it literally floods if you bath or shower

Advance notice of door code and instructions required. I didn’t know there was WiFi. Card giving password would been useful.

Just the Location, the wifi and Daniel, the property manager, who clearly tried his best to help us to let us live there despite the horrible condition. The listing on Booking.com says is rented as full apartment but they are renting by room and it has fake pictures compared to the actual condition of the house that is in a terrible status.

It was super dirty. leakage from the ceiling in the living room, couches in the living room were very dirty and I asked the property manager to cover them in order to sit down, the pans in the kitchen were completely moulded and scratched at health level concern and the oven was philthy, no glasses to drink water and no chairs and table available. The first day we got there we didn't feel welcome.
