Casa Zona Sul

A minha hospedagem foi ótima! Leda super atenciosa e simpática, me ajudando com dicas e orientações. O local é uma delícia! Tudo muito limpinho e aconchegante!! A acomodação fica próximo ao mercado, que tem um almoço delicioso e também bem pertinho da praia.

O bairro é super familiar e tranquilo, me senti muito segura durante a estadia. A casa é limpa, arejada e bem confortável. Tem padarias, restaurantes e mercados por perto, além de fácil acesso ao transporte público. A praia de São Conrado fica pertinho, é linda e bem sossegada, ótima para relaxar. E a anfitriã é super atenciosa, simpática e muito querida, o que fez toda a diferença na experiência!

Minha estadia na casa zona sul foi simplesmente incrível! Desde o momento em que cheguei, fui recebida com hospitalidade excepcional. A casa super limpa, bem equipada, com todas as comodidades. A localização é perfeita, a anfitriã foi extremamente atenciosa, respondendo a todas as minhas perguntas rapidamente e dando ótimas dicas sobre a área. Com certeza voltarei e recomendarei a todos os meus amigos! Muito obrigado por proporcionar uma experiência tão agradável!

Very nice place just a few minutes walk from the beach with several food and grocery stores around. The owner of the house if very kind and welcoming and the house has a couple of very nice views of the Pedra da Gavea and the Tijuca forest. Wifi is decent and the balcony is a nice place to have coffee or a meal (although it is outside the room). The Sao Conrado beach is close by and is equally as nice as Ipanema and Copacabana but less crowded, would recommend.

The bed is somewhat hard and the main door is difficult to open as the lock is broken, although these are not really deal breakers to me!

The hostess Leda and her daughter Emilly were super friendly and accommodating, always greeting us with a smile and "Bon dia!" We communicated through WhatsApp mostly (leaning heavily on Google translate), and were often asked if we needed anything. Leda gave us many recommendations and tips for navigating the city. There were 2 friendly cats that would come over and say hello every so often, and as cat lovers, we loved these interactions. A major highlight was the balcony, overlooking abundant green and a stunning rock formation. We often ate meals and hung out on the balcony chairs, taking in the sights and sounds of São Conrado. We were also welcomed to use the living room between the bedroom and balcony, equipped with a comfy sofa and the option to leave the balcony sliding doors open for a gentle breeze. The bathroom, a few steep steps down from the living room, was clean and gorgeous! Though shared, we never had an issue with conflicting bathroom use times. The bedroom came with ample storage space (a standing closet with drawers), bedside table, lamp, 2 mirrors, and 2 shelving units. We absolutely adored staying a short walk from the São Conrado beach! A more local, less touristy beach, we found it to be much less crowded and way cleaner than the Ipanema Beach. There's also a nearby bus stop, and several little grocery stores that while pricey, were definitely convenient and tasty (especially the bakery section!). We hope to come back and stay at Casa Zona Sul whenever we find ourselves back in Rio de Janeiro -- thank you Leda and Emilly!

The bedroom was a bit dark and hot, as it didn't have a window. We were able to control the overhead fan and turn on a mounted AC unit, but still had some stuffy nights. The extending living room and balcony helped open up the space and offer plenty of outdoor access. Right below the balcony, it seemed there was a party every night, which would sometimes feel overwhelming, but we also sometimes enjoyed the liveliness of the music. As the bedroom didn't overlook the street, we never could hear the street sounds with the door shut.

Not a lot. Very disappointing. Landlady eventually became more helpful after my complaints to Booking.com.

Not as advertised! My room with balcony didn't have one. Landlady didn't want us using electricity: said air-conditioning must only be used at night, and nor must we have long showers. Awful bed, really hard. Mattress was stained and dirty (see photos). Dangerous, open stairwell (see photo). Moved room. Better bed. But TV was in the lounge, not in the room, and watched by landlady and daughter. Balcony was on the other side of the lounge. The sofa was barricaded so I couldn't use it! (See photo) Etcetera.... I have waited to post this review to allow a bit of distance from my worst homestay in 6 months in Brazil and tried to be fair. But it was the worst place I stayed in Brazil.
