"Cozy homestay in Teotitlán"

10.0

Nice light-filled room with views from balconies. Breakfasting with the host’s family was a treat. Rey David (who appears to manage the place) also has a beautiful showroom of high-quality rugs, pottery and dog beds (!) on the premises, and his sister makes chocolate.

Everything was great!

"Rode with hosts to their gardens and work shed, helped clean yarn, then home for dinner and sleep."

10.0

Very interesting to stay in a working weaving studio, with an invitation from the hosts to work with them for the afternoon. Beautiful attached apartment with private bath.

No negative issues.

"Loud at night"

7.0

Easy to find.

Neighbors are loud. Barking dogs all night. Wasn't given a key until later that night after asking three times. Ended up leaving after the first night even though we planned two nights there.

"Clean, comfortable and spacious but not very welcoming hosts"

7.0

Clean, bright, spacious room, privacy, pitcher of water, private bathroom, appreciated late check out, and cup of hot chocolate, comfortable bed

The family was not very welcoming, it felt like it was just a business transaction and they wanted to make money off of me, nothing felt genuine or heartfelt , the room and breakfast cost double what it did at their sweet neighbor’s house across the street, they said insulting things about their neighbors that I found to be really unprofessional, I had stayed with their neighbors across the street at Casa Lizu first and the experiences were like night and day. At Casa Lizu the whole family genuinely took time to get to know me and wanted to spend time with me. At this place, they didn’t even make time to say goodbye to me as I was leaving. Also, they didn’t actively work on the looms at any point during my stay. It looks like it was just a showroom but was not really being used. I highly recommend booking with the neighbors at Casa Lizu instead. They didn’t post the WiFi password and when I went down to ask, I had the feeling that I was bothering the family. They gave me a password, but it might have been for the wrong network because the WiFi signal was extremely weak in my room and only worked outside.

Great place to stay, lovely and welcoming family happy to show you around their workshop and they offer some outstanding wool dying/weaving experiences

Unfortunately, there was no shared kitchen even though it said so in the offer

We liked everything and wish we could stay longer! The room was big, spacious and had some nice outdoor seating to watch the sunset. The hosts were such friendly, creative, and lovely people. The location was beautiful!

"A short stay but loved the view from the house and exploring this wonderful little town."

8.0

The breakfast was delicious and served in a pretty courtyard, close to where their looms are located. Wish we would have had the time to learn how to roast cacao beans or prepare wool for dying and the loom. Very gracious hosts who showed us briefly how they make beautiful rugs and wall hangings. They also have a gallery with their own pottery and rugs. Our hostess took us to Sunday morning market which was fun.

A couple of steps from the bedroom to the outside bathroom made me stumble a few times so could have been better marked. One thing that wasn't the fault of the owners but there was a party in a house across the way that was very loud and went on until 2am so was quite difficult to get any sleep.
