Gästehaus Scherrer

Wir haben uns sofort sehr wohl gefühlt in dieser Ferienwohnung. Frau Scherrer, die Vermieterin die selbst im Haus wohnt, ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Wohnung ist in zwei Räume aufgeteilt, in einem befindet sich Wohn- und Esszimmer, Küchenzeile sowie ein Badezimmer mit WC und im anderen gehts über den Flur in ein Schlafzimmer ebenfalls mit Dusche und WC. Somit können gut vier Personen (Schlafcouch im Wohnbereich) in der Ferienwohnung ihren Urlaub verbringen. Bushaltestelle befindet sich direkt vor der Haustür, Restaurants sind fußläufig erreichbar und viele Wanderwege beginnen direkt vor Ort (Gemsteltal, Breitachweg ...). Toll ist, dass bei dieser Unterkunft die Bergbahnen im Sommer inklusive sind.

Amazing location near the end of the valley on the main road at the end of the town of Mittelberg, but very quiet as not much passes. Stunning views from the property everywhere you look. The property had everything we needed for our short stay. The apartment is upstairs on the 1st floor. Small kitchen area with two hobs, sink, kettle, coffee machine, toaster and fridge with ice compartment. Enough for us to cook a couple of meals and breakfast. Note, no oven or microwave. Dining area with plenty of space. Lounge area with two sofas, one which is an ample double sofa bed and access to the balcony with chairs to take in the amazing view. Toilet/bathroom with shower. The other double bedroom is across the landing with separate lockable door and has it's own large en suite and views out the rear of the property up the hill behind. Christine (the host) lives on the same floor as the apartment and was great. Accessible if needed and answered all our questions, but was not intrusive. The property came with the Bergbahn tickets for use in the summer season during your stay. This was so good for us and we used on all the local buses (bus stop right outside) and local cable cars and simple to use either in paper form or once the app downloaded. Tourist information centre is less than 10 mins away in Hirschegg and really helpful with suggestions and maps. We were easily able to visit the top of the big cable cars that were in action and numerous huts, the Allgau coaster, the swimming pool in Riezlern, the Breitach gorge and a number of walks exploring direct from the property. A small shop about 5 mins walk away along the main road which has all you need with bigger shops in Riezlern or for very large in Oberstdorf. And a couple of restaurants walking distance, with more in Mittelberg or other towns back down the valley road. Check for bank holiday and weekend opening times. Thank you for our stay, we hope to return one day.

Waren sehr zufrieden mit unserem Aufenthalt. Die Unterkunft ist gut ausgestattet mit allem was man braucht. Die Lage ist zentral und direkt an einer Bushaltestelle. Die Vermieter sind auch super freundlich. Kann ich weiter empfehlen :)

Die Abdunklung im Schlafzimmer ist nicht sehr effektiv, wenn man bei etwas Helligkeit nicht schlafen kann, wird es schwierig. Mehr negatives kann ich nicht sagen :)

The flat is modern, clean, and in a great location for hiking.

Shortly after we booked this property, the hosts reached out to us to ask if we wanted to extend our stay by one additional day. We replied that we might be interested, and asked if there was a discount for booking a full week instead of 6 days. The host offered us a reduced price (including cleaning etc.) provided we cancelled our booking with Booking.com and transferred them the money directly. We weren't comfortable with this, so we declined. The hosts then proposed that we could keep our original booking and pay the difference once we arrived. We agreed to these terms. As were checking out we were surprised to be presented us with an invoice for double the amount we were expecting. We reminded the host of our agreement, and indicated that we were expecting to pay the difference between the agreed total and what we had already paid via Booking.com. The host claimed to have no knowledge of this conversation, saying that because we had received a 'special rate' on Booking.com, a discount was impossible for the additional day. We were simultaneously being rushed out of the property, imposed upon to immediately pay hundreds of Euros in cash, and threatened with legal action when we hesitated. It's a shame as the accommodation itself is quite nice, but the original offer to circumvent Booking.com felt like a red flag, and our experience on the last day felt like a scam. I will concede that it's possible that the person with whom we interacted had, in all honestly, no knowledge of our written agreement, however I don't think this explains or excuses the manufactured urgency of the situation or their unwillingness to discuss our concerns.
