Location was fabulous and very convenient. We were able to access everywhere on our bikes! The host was also helpful in offering us a lift when we wanted to go out for dinner.

Its very basic but you get what you pay

We thoroughly enjoyed the silence, peacefulness and nature of the whole island . The island is extremely clean with regard to litter. In 5 days walking , we only saw one fruit sticker and one lolly pop stick……fantastic community effort. The administration of the island has done an exceptional job of maintaining the natural environment.

The location was good, gardens lovely & relaxing. Lovely hot showers. Barbara (the owner) met us and returned us to the airport which was helpful.

Our unit No.5 had extensive black mould in the kitchen area. The owner was definitely aware of this extremely unhealthy situation and still chose to use the unit. This unit should not be used until the unit roof is replaced and the whole kitchen area is stripped of the wallpaper and severe black mould treated!! It's is disgraceful that we paid for such a disgusting, smelly and unhealthy unit. We should be offered a refund by the owner, especially as she openly admitted she is aware of the extensive black mould. I will be advising NSW health & the Lord Howe Island Board. Unfortunately for my husband & I, we didn't notice the visible black mould until Day 4 of our 6 day stay. The complex was fully booked and we definitely couldnt afford to try & stay somewhere else at our own cost! We smelt a shocking musty smell in the unit as soon as we arrived and this smell continued. So upon our closer investigation of the unit, we saw the extensive black mould all over the kitchen wall concealed under very slightly lifted wall paper. Speaking to people at LHI, this unit has disappointed other customers too. As I have SLE Lupus & a compromised immune system, I feel very strongly about this issue and do not want anyone else to have to endure what we did.
