Übernachten im ehemaligen Zollgebäude

The accommodation is located against the border of Germany in Belgium in a former border post building. ideal base for day trips to Aachen, the northern Ardennes and the Eifel. the apartment consists of a corridor with a toilet and a former office with a high ceiling in which the space is divided into a lower part with a sofa, kitchenette, dining table and bathroom, and an upper part with a double bed. We were welcomed by a hospitable and helpful host who gave us an extensive tour with explanations and gave us tips on attractions in the area. A special mention: MANNEKENFrit, the mini restaurant (no, not a snack bar) where they serve excellent chips and hamburgers. Not cheap, but very good quality, and at 30 seconds walking distance from the apartment.

Although the interior of the apartment can be called cozy, it is also small. The TV screen (hanging on the wall) is also small, so you need binoculars to watch it from the couch on the other side of the room. The hobs are built into the kitchen unit directly above the freezer compartment. That's why, I think, the goods we kept in the freezer compartment didn't freeze at all. Furthermore, the bathroom could be a bit cleaner, especially near the heating there was dust and dirt. I assume this is an unfortunate exception.
