Le Moulin de Chatillon

Gîte bien situé (sur ke GR129) et au calme. Tout était conforme à l'annonce. Très bonne literie.

Un peu plus de produits de première nécessité (il y avait juste un fond de sel, pas de poivre ni d'épices ).

Location: easy direct access from the garden to lovely walks in the forest. Property is accessed from the main road (yet it feels peaceful, and traffic noise was not a problem inside the apartment). There is free parking onsite. The apartment is comfortable, clean and well equipped with kitchen utensils and equipment. Towels and bedding were provided. The host is very helpful and responsive regarding arrival logistics and he met us on arrival with the keys. It was very useful to receive explicit directions from him beforehand regarding access to the driveway of the property, as the turning is easy to miss. We attended an event at the Château du Bois d’Arlon, which is only about 5 minutes drive away from the apartment. Luxembourg airport is accessible within a 30-45 minute drive, depending on traffic. We took advantage of the free park and ride and free public transport in Luxembourg to also visit Luxembourg city during our stay.

There are two sets of steep stairs to access the apartment, which are not suitable for very young children or people with mobility issues, especially the external staircase which has a handrail attached to the house but no rail or barrier on the other side to prevent falling (see photos). A minor point, but we were a little surprised to not have any soap available in the bathroom or toilet when we arrived, and had to quickly unpack our case to find shower gel so we could wash our hands on arrival. Limited options near the property to eat out. You need a car for everything (apart from hiking). It might be helpful if the host could offer an (optional) mini 'welcome pack' on arrival, with basic supplies such as soap, bread, eggs, fruit, to avoid having to drive out immediately after arrival to search for a local shop. We arrived by plane, so we would have been happy to pay extra for this option, as we could not carry lots of extra supplies with us.

An absolute gem of a place to stay in a good price range. Owner Vincent was a very helpful person indeed. Best communication from him before arrival and also throughout our stay. Responding in very good time for any message left via Booking.com Location is just amazing of the property. There is very nice wood walk around the property. Accommodation had all you need for a short stay as a family. Rooms and amenities were clean. This is certainly an accommodation for us to revisit, whenever we are ever again in the area. Totally recommended.
