Dreams in La Mer

Location was fine, with very fine views to the sea.

We booked the hotel La Mer via Booking.com and we found out, to our surprise, after having paid for everything online, that we would not be hosted in the hotel, but in a private apartment near the hotel and we would be supposed to pick up the keys from an intermediary, Dina. She was apparently ok at first, but then she became utterly unpolite and threatening in the following situation: we wanted to stay for one more day because the weather was nice, we paid for that, and then the cleaning lady interrupted the water supply in the apartment. We called Dina, we told her that there was water in the hotel, but not in the apartment (I checked it) and she told us that there was a general technical problem and asked us to leave the apartment in 1 hour and wrote very nasty messages ... When I insisted that I would call the police, her husband came to give us back the money for the extra day, but we were left utterly in the street and our vacation was totally spoiled. We could not stick to our travelling schedule that day, it was too late to go home and we had to move to another hotel, the Astoria, in the Golden Sands. Fortunately, it was off season and we could find rooms. Otherwise, I do not know what we could have done ... The people in the La Mer hotel restaurant, who also had water, were shocked when we told them about all this. It is something strange with this apartment and the intermediary dealing with it. Beware of this place if you want to avoid unpleasant surprises during your holidays. And the Booking.com should also check a bit the situation - it is not normal to book a hotel and find out after paying that you are not in the hotel you booked, but in a private apartment and it is not normal not to have water in the apartment you paid for. There were not sufficient towels either. And the cleaning and the wifi were also poor. The view was indeed very fine. That tricked us in fact ...

Very clean and modern apartment, with all facilities and beautiful sea view. The host was very nice and we were provided with all the necessary information related to an easy check-in.

Children left unattended in the premises who made noise from time to time.

Good clean apartment great facilities available but we were not sure what we could or couldn't do. eg sunbeds and beach free or paid. . Bad start but once communication established it was ok and we felt safe and could relax in a great private complex. Lovely place and do recommend if clearer info is given. not complaining because it's a great place if comms sorted

Harrasment since review left. - no clear instructions CONFIRMED how to find and enter apartment BEFORE arrival. Reception closed. We had told host our arrival time 3 days earlier. Luckily we sneaked in gate, security spoke very little of our language but he phoned owner to find keysafe 20m from door. We strongly suggest owner has info pack in apartment and ensures renter has recieved enough info confimed to gain entry PRIOR to landing in country and to also enjoy what is or is not available whilst renting. it really was a guessing game if you don't speak bulgarian. reception was always closed

close to the beach nice resort access to pools amazing balcony view

everything was perfect, the host is exceptional, kind and easy to reach, the apartment spacios, well equipped, perfect view, well cleaned, two air conditions. the complex very nice and modern, beach free and not too crowded, clean. the pools were perfect, the restaurant great and not too expensive, great food. we will surely come back!

maybe two really small things to improve: - mosquito nets on the windows - something to the bathroom windows so people cannot look inside but these didnt had any impact on our stay! just mentioning to improve above a 10 ;)

The spacious apartment, the cleanliness. The view, the gardens. The restaurant, the food. The vibe of the place!
