Стаята беше като голямо хале със скърцащ под. Ако отиваш до тоалетна нощем се чува всяка стъпка, дори и от съседните стаи. Така, че усещането беше сякаш си в къща с призраци… Тоалетната е практически в хола, без реална преграда и се чува и помирисва всичко от нея в стаята …

Отлична локация

Леко се чува шум от съседните стаи,общо взето шумоизолацията не е на високо ниво, но това не би ми попречило отново да си резервирам престой 🙂

Location and check-in: Saffron Guest House was not marked in Google Maps, but Saffron Restaurant was. The location would still be correct because the rooms were above the restaurant. There was no manned reception at any time of day or night; instead, communication with management was by messaging (in English). An electronic code for the front door would be needed. There was no lift, but my room was only one floor up. There were plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The room in Saffron was huge, three times bigger than I needed. Naturally, my concern was whether the heating (only airconditioner) would be able to cope with outside temperatures down to 3 or 4 degrees; it did, which speaks well of the place. Lighting was good, wifi was good, and there were plenty of electrical sockets. There was a fridge, kettle and sachets of coffee and tea. There was a high table with stools instead of a desk. The table was quite small and wobbly. One of the stools was on the point of breaking too. The room had a washing machine, but there were no instructions. Moreover, the washing machine did not have a dryer function (nor was there a separate dryer), and there was no drying rack in the room for wet laundry. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. Whilst the chiffon curtain could stretch the whole width of the window, the black-out curtain could not (the curtain width was less than the window width). Therefore, total blackout for those who need it to sleep would not be possible. Such simple shortcomings should not happen. It was also noteworthy that despite the vast amount of floor space, no suitcase rack was provided. There was no breakfast option.

The bathroom was a big disappointment: Despite the enormous size of the bedroom, the bathroom was small and tight. There was no shower stall, and the bathroom would be all wet including the toilet area after a shower. Moreover, drainage was poor with slight flooding. Water pressure was good and hot/cold water came through easily. There was no washbasin in the bathroom. The washbasin was in the room itself and placed above the countertop. The result was an unusually high wash basin which would not be a problem for adults, but if one had children, it could be too high for them. Major problem: small, wet bathroom as described above. Minor issues: 1. No desk; 2. the window curtain was too small; 3. poor drainage. Minor issues are not deal-breakers, but they affect the value-for-money equation. Overall, Saffron Guest House did not compare well among the eleven hotels (all in the same price range) that I stayed in during this trip.
