Casa do Mar Caraíva

Localização ótima (ao lado da igrejinha) e em média uns 10 minutinhos de onde desembarca a travessia do rio. Cozinha tem todos os utensílios. O dono (a) deixa pó de café, açúcar, sal e uns temperos disponíveis para usar. Tem secador, toalhas e roupa de cama. O local é tranquilo e nos deixaram a vontade.

A única coisa que não tem é TV, pra mim não fez diferença, mas acredito que acrescentaria ainda mais a comodidade.

Paulo is a great guy who goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. He's also the percussionist of a great samba band so definitely try to catch one of their gigs. The house is spacious, comfortable with great amenities and ideally located close to the hustle and bustle. Highly recommended!

Paulo's communication is superb and really taking care of us. He sent me a video how to walk from the kano point and already shared the wifi so.in case we wouldn't directly see him we could use the internet to message him. Amazing and very well thought of. Crystal is such a nice dog who's company we enjoyed a lot. Location is also excellent, a few minutes walking from the center so no noise from the crowd, but still there in less than 5 min, just like the beach. Also we had a fully equipped kitchen and very nice bed.

This is a great location. Super near everything in Caraiva. The main street with restaurants and bars is just a 4 minutes walk away. The bus and boogey station is just 2 minutes of walking. The boat to cross the river is only 6 minutes walking (I only had backpack - and I don´t recommend that you bring a LOT of luggage to Caraiva since there is only sand in the streets - you can´t roll your luggage in the streets there, so just bring a backpack or something you can carry in your hands). You can pay someone at the boat dock to carry your luggage on carriage with mules, but personally I don´t agree with the (ab)use of mules for that purpose to serve humans... The apartment has most things you expect in a home. See negatives for what was wrong about the apartment. Great service that there is a cleaning of the apartment every 2 days and with a change of towels. That´s super. Thank you.

First of all: people have to lower their expectations a lot before they come to places like Caraiva. There is barely any infrastructure. I knew this before arriving, but I still found some things unacceptable: The fridge was either ice cold and ruined everything in there, or too warm and didn´t keep things cool. The bathroom was uncomfortable - the water from the shower goes everywhere, the curtain is not much help, and there is electric current in the shower head (try touching it and you will see). On booking the apartment, you don´t see separate photos of JUST the apartment you choose - when you click on the photos for the specific apartment (when choosing your price and room) you will see photos of all the apartments. The host needs to update the booking information to match the photos of the correct apartment with the correct payment price. There were termites in the ceiling eating away at the wood - which made sawdust fall on the bed. And if you are allergic or asthmatic, this will cause you a lot of displeasure and probably cause reactions in your body. The host said he would fix this problem as soon as I left, so maybe it will be fixed by the time you go and stay there. I didn´t appreciate his tone and his way of dealing with me as a guest - especially regarding this termite problem, and I asked for understanding when I wanted to leave 1 day earlier. He demanded that I pay full price anyway - which was absurd given the termite problem and other issues which I pointed out + more that I don´t care to go into detail about, but in the end I paid all except for 60 Reals, which I had to argue with him to understand. He will respond to this review, I am sure. And he will discredit me, I am sure, because he is a difficult person with zero empathy for his guest, I am sorry to say. It took him 1 hour of arguing to understand the situation and how wrong it was of him to treat a guest as he treated me. I told him about the termite problem 2 days before I checked out.
