Nérine was easy to access, clean, and roomy. We were travelling for work and decided to stay at Leysin, which is about 60 min drive from Lausanne, because it was the cheapest option available. Leysin is a mountain town in what I believe to be one of the best parts of Switzerland; unfortunately, we did not visit much and arrived during the night. The mountain road to the town is well kept and I was able to follow it in the night with little effort. Once at the Nérine facility, I followed the instructions the owners had promptly sent me: you enter a code and get a key from a box next to the garage; then you walk in the main building, go downstairs, and access the studio apartment. It is true the box was a bit clunky, but I believe most reviews are unfair: I simply pushed down the button after entering the code and, when I saw that the box was not opening, I pushed the button down a little down with my car keys (which fit the tiny gap) and voilà -- the box was open. This was no different from the apartments I saw in Venice so I really do not get what all the reviewers were talking about. The host was always available through the phone but I had no need to contact her. Once in the studio, we realized it could host up to four people: two on the bunk beds and two on the queen bed. The Queen bed had been arranged with heart-shaped pillows, a teddy bear, and towels wrapped up in a cosy fashion. WiFi was fully functioning and there was an abundance of plugs all over the place. The kitchen was clean and the bathroom as well. The shower was fully functioning and immediately hot. All the furnishing was simple but retained a mountain-chalet fashion. All in all, I believe it was excellent for a short stay. Maybe I would have booked one more night had I known it was so easily accessible by car and located in a small town, but my colleague and I really had to go. Maybe next time!

I have no specific qualms about this property. It was very cheap and more than enough considering the low standards of other facilities in the surroundings. It seems the website wants me to make this section unnecessarily long, so I am writing this statement just to meet the length requirements of the criticism section.

Good location, quiet, good temperature, mocha pot, coffee, fridge and mini kitchen.

Check in process The PIN box in which the keys were locked, wasn’t opening. The host wasn’t readily available on the phone to assist with this issue so had to pry it open with a coin. The flat entrance was blocked by a broken bed and had to squeeze through. The flat door needed extra force to push it open as well as unlocking the lock. Facilities There are electrical lights on the wall, that the bed is attached to, connected to a 240V socket that my legs kept hitting during the night. One guest will get electrocuted someday. The blinds seemed broken and had to use the rolls for privacy. Check out process The host came knocking on our door on the check out day and without saying good morning or hello, said “actually you should had checked out at 09:00!” in a rather unfriendly manner. Common sense has it that if your check out time is earlier than 99% of properties on Booking.com, then you’d effectively communicate that along with your check-in instructions.
