Gisela way absolutely wonderful! She shared her whole second floor with us which is equipped with a minifridge, utelsils, coffe and sugar too, we basically had a big living room with a sofa. There are books and board games as well! Honestly we tired ourselves out so much that we didn't wake up to the planes flying over the house. It was actually exciting to watch them from so close in the morning too. The tram station is right next to her row of houses and it was just the perfect way to visit Köln inner city and get back safe and uncomplicated. Perfect place to stay if you're a deep sleeper and like these hidden little gardens!

Bed is a bit too soft but this is a personal vendetta of mine that I love the hardest mattresses :D

GiseLa the matriarch, artist , owner , and creator of not just a house, but a home away from home situated in a very green suburban neighborhood easily accessed by the nearby tram. This period in Cologne was very busy with congress' , festivals, conventions , and tourists. There were very few reasonably priced places to stay. Gisela's place was just a few more euros than some overpriced dormitory hostel beds. I felt very blessed to have such a huge, comfy, 3rd floor apartment all to myself, and the freedom to have wonderful conversations downstairs with Gisela in her garden studio area. Like the detail in her beaded pointilism art, Gisela provides a well attended stay complete with many towels, cleaning supplies, dishes, glasses, cutlery , tea and tea set, hand sanitizer, hot water kettle, and even a little library. The bathroom is also well supplied, clean, with a wonderful shower stall ... hot , strong, water . and fancy soap ! The tram station is a pleasant tree-llined stroll from the front door; it was so interesting to be in old cologne and within minutes , return by tram to this calm quiet green harbor of a neighborhood. and the best part: Hostess Gisele !

At just a half hour by train outside of Cologne, Gisela’s home is a wonderful respite from the busy, dirty city. The neighborhood is very green and quiet with a few restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Gisela is a joy to be around! Her positive energy is contagious and she really makes you feel at home. Gisela goes above and beyond as a hostess! The shared bathroom is modern, ample and comfortable. We had no problems sharing it with Gisela. There is also a half bath on the first floor. In addition to the small bedroom with a very comfortable bed, there is a very large living room that we used to spread out our luggage and other belongings. Gisela’s home is full of fun original artwork done by her, and her garden is lovely!

I did not know we were in a major flight path to the airport and, being in the top floor of the house and having to have windows open due to heat, there were times at night and early mornings when the noise from air traffic was quite loud. Luckily, my earplugs blocked enough of the sound to allow me a decent night’s rest.
