Haus am Malerweg

A nice and tidy apartment in a beautiful setting. We were comfortably accommodated and found everything we needed in the house. The towel swans were a nice and very cute touch.

The bed mattress were quite soft and worn out. It was perfectly clean by any means, but did not support our lower backs properly. And the pillows could have been better.

Village where the house is located is nice. Key box so you don't have to worry about late arrival. Quite big apartment.

Where should we start... there is plenty. No light at the front door so its tricky to open the door in the dark. Infrared sauna is in the dark basement that is filled with spiderwebs. We turned sauna on put it didn' get warm and also no light in there so seems it's not working. Our frontdoor handle fell off. We could hear our upstairs neighbours. You can not cook with 2 pans on the stove because it's too small. There was only one big fork. No free toiletries in the bathroom(While described there should be) Mattress is super thin so our backs hurt. Bed is squeeky and feels like its going to fall apart, doesn't feel romantic at all. No lighter to light candles on tv cabinet. Blinds are moldy. It was stressful to get contact with the hosts. They answered to our booking messages 10 days later. Told we get an email with all the information week before. No email so we called, emailed and sent them messages through booking. We finally got the information after contacting booking customer service. There is also no information about tourist tax on the booking, they want you to pay it extra. You pay for the cleaning and they want you to divide and clean up your garbage. Owners seem lazy, problems that were complained about are not taken care of. Garden behind the house and parking lot looks not maintained at all, grass is long.

It was in a quiet residential area with a lovely village feeling. It was big with well equipped kitchen and dining table. After a few weeks travelling it was good being able to cook a meal! The little added touches like the chocolates and wine were very appreciated! Make sure you ask for an get the tourism pass which enables you to travel free on buses and trains in the area including the tram into the national park. public bus is a few metres away and the whole area is well serviced by public transport which makes it good for hikers in the area. Parking onsite.

There was nothing you could fault about this property! The only thing was the tourist pass wasn’t in the apartment when we arrived and by the time we contacted the owner and located it, it was too late to go into the park that day. However communication with the owner was excellent.

The place was perfect with all the little details taken care of: the new dishwasher cloths and sponge, little heart shaped candies and two bottles of Prosecco to meet and greet etc. It was also very clean. Prepaid tourist transport cards were soooo helpful and totally paid off as we were using ferries, buses and trains to get to nearby hiking start points a lot. The cards were prepared by the host, which was incredibly thoughtful! The neighborhood is very peaceful and quiet with lots of birds singing, perfect for the peace of mind.

The internet was a bit unstable but I'm sure this will be taken care of in no time.

The location is really great for hikes. the kitchen is well equipped.

the apartment itself really not up to standard. from the furniture, to the decoration, the mold in the bathroom, the very used and old mattresses and the thinnest pillows you will ever lay your heads on. the quality of the sheets is another thing. it is from a fabric that grips to every cell of your skin.

The apartment was extremely clean. The location can be a plus but also a minus. In the positive sense it was very peaceful and quite and you could immediately jump into the wilderness of the national park. We also found kitchen pretty comfortable to cook at.

We didn’t like the communication with the property owners. They forgot to put toilet paper in the apartment, I messaged them about it in the early evening and they reacted only the next day by midday. My next question was left unanswered and ignored. In case of serious issues, I don’t think it’s acceptable to let your guests hang so long without an answer. Another thing about the location which in this case can be experienced as a minus: even though it’s very peaceful and close to nature, if you’re without a car (like us), it’s gonna be pain in the ass to move around the area as public transport leaves much to be desired (you have to cross by boat or bus that go irregularly) and the decent supermarkt is in Bad Schandau which is very far by public transport (first walk to the boat 10 min, then wait for the boat and go for about 20 min by boat, then 10 min walk to the supermarket, then repeat. The boat only goes once an hour to Krippen where the accommodation is). So this should be all considered by someone who is coming here without own car or other means of transport). Next big minus for us was that there is no washing machine. Bring as much clean clothes as possible with you as you won’t be able to wash it here.
