Awi Guest House

The accommodation represents excellent value for money. The apartment is well equipped but I didn't have any hot water for the shower but that was fine because the weather was so hot anyway. It is in a lovely settling on an island on the middle of The Nile and it is easy to get to with a ferry constantly crossing and costing about 20p. The breakfast was outstanding with a lovely selection of fresh ingredients.. the best I had in Luxor served to you on a tray. The bed was comfortable and sleeping was very peaceful

It is unfortunate that the local people drop so much litter and no one seems to take responsibility for cleaning it up so the path leading to the apartment is strewn with debris. The only real negative about the apartment was that although the pillow was covered i could see that it was very dirty and needs to be washed or replaced. Also remember to take mosquito spray because if you go out even for a few minutes in the early evening you will get badly bitten as I found out afterwards!

Awi guest house was perfect. Coming from the chaos and noise of Cairo this was a welcomed change of pace. The guest house and island it is situated on feels like you have left Egypt and arrived in Africa. The island was quiet, unheard of in Egypt (no pun intended). The room had a spectacular view of the Nile, a small kitchen, and private washroom. I was clean and comfortable. There is a restaurant near by and Awi offers to make breakfast on his water front patio. I did not have breakfast so no details for you guys. Being on an island requires a short ferry ride across the Nile. It will cost 10 egp ($0.30 ish) both ways. So keep some egp on hand. Awi will meet you at the ferry to guide you to the house and speaks relatively good English.

Excellent location, with a beautiful view of Nile and the city of Aswan. Only 2 min walk from the pier, where you can take a ferry to conveniently get to Aswan. By the water~ It’s Aswan all about. The host helped with transporting my luggage by his own boat on the arrival and departure day. It very important if you have big luggage like me. The host was very helpful on suggesting how to travel to attractions around Aswan. He could even recommend economical tours if you need them. I had a very pleasant and relaxing stay there!
