El Estanco 14

This was my 3rd stay here, I like the location! For the fair price you get small but nice Junior suite (only for 2 people, 3 is not possible because of space), with big smart TV, 2 aircon (needed for heating of each room,), modern kitchen (just freezing part in refrigirator is missing) and bathroom. Bedroom is separated from kitchen and here is space to move there armchair to bedroom to watch big TV from chair - not from bed. Big covered swimming pool, nice finish sauna and whirpool all was perfect to enjoy stay despite the weather. Hint: property manager responds to sms quickly, if you need something, contact him via SMS, (not messaging not whatsapp). Ask for proper key code to lockbox one hour prior arrival, in the instructions is not correct key code.

First night aircon was off and not possible to switch it on using remote control (as it can be operated via Wifi remotely by manager). But after few sms it was solved withing less than one hour by manager. You can hear some noice from private whirpool of appartment above Junior suite if it start during nigh automatic reheating... hope manager can solve it with adding timer there to prevent reheating during night hours.

Location, layout, lovely pool and sauna, lovely sun terrace with cover from the hot sun, vorgeous views down valley and the befroom being flooded with the pink light of sunrise.

Parking a little awkward. Problem with a wooden floor bulging due to a damp issue underfloor. Did report it in Spanish with a photo as it was becomimg a nasty trip hazard but no response from the owner. Had to contact the owner to find where to park the car and which unit we were staying in. The names of the units bore no resemblance to the description on Booking.com and the key safe code was different to that given through Booking.com but we sorted it out.

Apartment was really comfortable and had good amenities, it can get a bit cold in the mountains so there was good aircon and lots of blankets. Private hot tub was great, it's on the balcony in a wooden structure with windows. Location is beautiful and it's a good base for exploring nearby areas with a car.

Check-in was a little difficult, lockbox code provided was incorrect and had to call owner who didn't answer straight away, although it was all resolved in 15 mins or so, but had similar issues checking out. There's no parking, the restaurant owner around the corner kindly let us park there but asked that we moved the car between 12pm and 5pm, which worked for us.

It was my second stay (more details in march review) and again nearly perfect, even this time a few cons. But we will return again 😀 Again I have to say that cleaning lady cares about guests like she is owner, not just cleaning. Congrats for such staff...

There is new sign limiting spacy parkiing on the edge of road only to adjacent restaurant. We talked to restaurant owner and were able to park there but not during weekend and holiday when he wanted to keep parking free for possible guests. Then can be parking real challenge if more than one room occupied at El estanco. Price this time was about 30% higher than in March, now it is quite a lot for small Junior suite and 2 people. Maybe this is why we were most of time only guests comparing to march when it was more full. There was frustraiting noice from private jacuzzi in Upper appartment during NIGHT when this jacuzzi automatically started to filter and reheat even nobody occupied this appt. I would ask owners to add there timer NOT allowing this jacuzzi to run in the night because it sits on the roof of Junior suite 😟

As there is a traditional oven (that was probably used before we got there) the room smelled like fire. Opening the windows for a while before the guests arrive would be nice.

That place is perfect to rest while temperatures are high since it is build in a rock and doesn't even require air conditioning to sleep well. It is extra quiet inside. There is a lot of green outside that we really liked. It was very clean inside the room.

Check in process was terrible - that is the reason of my final rating - otherwise it would be 8-9.My wife was encouraging me to leave that place because no one was waiting for us to come, codes provided from booking were invalid and it was impossible to contact anyone by provided by booking number. I would also consider if letting in guests with animals is a good idea because the dog that was on our apartment's roof peed in a way that his pee dropped down from small roof located right above our entrance. That was strange.

The pool, sauna and jacuzzi were all really great. The apartment was large and clean. Very nice place.

Excellent property with heated big pool, heated Jacuzzi and sauna together with nice views from terrace. Junior suite was comfortable with small outside terrace and table and quite big bedroom with 60" smart TV. Whole junior suite was very well eqipped with quality appliances for cooking, 2 AC units (one in bedroom and one in kitchen-dining room), build with quality materials and furniture. There is dining table and small sofa - better is to move it to bedroom and watch big tv from sofa. There is space for it :) Cleaning lady who met us on arrival (around 6pm) was very attentive and even not speaking English, she did all she can to explain how to operate jacuzzi, pool cover, sauna and all kitchen appliances, congrats for such lovely cleaning lady. Easy parking (not the one infront gate) is 20m at the bend of the road, where is big free public parking and and where you find small shop and coffee. Very close to all main hiking places, some hikes starts directly close to property.

Yes, bathroom (we missed at least small shelf in the bathroom), kitchen with dining room are small, but good size for 2 people (not recommended for 3 at all). There is no coffee, tea or sugar provided, so bring your own. There is no freezing part in the fridge in Junior suite but we were able to use some other, so no problem :) Overall excellent 5 nights stay and value (spring promo).

El Estanco 14 is a very special and gorgeous property. It is so well taken care of and loved. The highlights have to be the incredible amenities and views from the house. The Estanco is set up with 4 little individual houses all sharing a grill area, jacuzzi, pool and sauna. The sauna was my personal favorite. We spent the night in the jacuzzi looking at the stars. It is the perfect place for a quiet getaway. The bed was very comfortable and the house is large with amenities to cook meals. The Mountain View’s from the house are beautiful and fresh oranges, lemons and kiwi plants to pick and eat from. The staff at Estanco 14 are the kindest and very helpful. The cleaner is so sweet and she helped us with our laundry. Estanco 14 is very isolated and great for relaxation, but also has the best Cañarían farm fresh food around the corner at the bar Perera. The food and owner are wonderful. I suggest trying the Ropa Vieja for lunch. overall 10/10 experience and the Estanco 14 holds a special place in my heart.

no complaints. getting the key may be difficult due to a lock box code. contact the property beforehand for details on how to open. another tip is to preheat hot tub or sauna before entering.
