San Sebastian Suites

Excellent location, on a nice plaza with lots to do and lots going on. The apartment itself was clean, modern, and comfortable. The entrance to the apartment building faces onto the plaza, with a key code to get in. There's a lift that serves each floor in the building, making it easy to get luggage up to the individual apartments. As for check-in, we arrived quite late, outside the check-in hours stated on Booking.com, but we messaged the hosts and were given the necessary key codes to get into the apartment, so this wasn't an issue. The beds were comfortable and the curtains did a good job of keeping the light out. We're from northern Europe and go to bed very early in comparison to the Spanish, so we were worried about it maybe being noisy outside, but in fact the sound-proofing did a good job keeping out most of the sounds of the local night life. The air conditioning in particular was good: very quiet, but still kept the whole apartment nice and cool. We slept very well there :-) The shower was great - good water pressure and good water temperature.

The only real problem for us was the WiFi. None of our devices would stay connected to it for more than around 1 minute, which made it unusable. We had to use our phones for internet for the entire stay. We informed the hosts about this, who said they'd get someone onto it to fix it, but we were only there for a couple of days and it hadn't been fixed before we left. I assume/hope this was a temporary issue that's been resolved by now.

Well placed in town where you could hide away and be by yourself or easily see what is going on and go get amongst it.

The property is exceptional. The location is right in the middle of the town and views are brilliant. Compact modern design. Decent soundproofing in most of the flat even though the location can be noisy.

Unfortunately the property management team was difficult to deal with. When I had to reduce my stay from 3 nights to 2 nights (all within the terms and conditions and dates allowed) the property refused saying it was against policy. I had to make multiple calls to Booking to resolve and amend my booking. If you bring a car ensure you are given clear instructions on where you can park. The allotted spaces the property said they had was under maintenance but they didn’t offer any alternatives. I repeatedly had to request the property reception team where the best place to park was. The guidance was very generic without In the end I had to ask a local policeman as I drove around. The property reception team messaged me mostly in Spanish and with the odd sporadic message in English and also contradicted themselves. If your Spanish is poor, have Google Translate ready. I advised I was not a Spanish speaker and even sent messages back in Spanish (via Google Translate) to try and make communication easier but they did not reciprocate. They communication style led to miscommunication and again had to escalate to Booking support to clarify.

The apartments were gorgeous and in the best location. We had a beautiful view over the square and the staff were incredibly helpful.

The only challenge we had was a strong smell in the appartment from the sewage system. Another confusion was about obtaining a special card for parking, but that issue the staff resolved quickly.
