Apartamento con encanto

The apartment was really nice, close to the city centre. The host was nice to guide and share places, bar and restaurant. We felt very comfortable knowing we can ask her any kind of support.

Absolutely beautifully renovated property, right next to bus station and about a 10 minute walk from restaurants.

The windows of the living room overlook the courtyard and it is always dark in the room with the sofa. It is impossible to be there without artificial light((((It's an apartment where something breaks every day. We haven't had a day where something hasn't broken. When we went to bed, we were terrified to think about what awaited us tomorrow in this apartment. The vacation was hopelessly ruined. on 02.01.2024 we checked into the apartment «Apartamento con encanto» , which we had paid in advance through booking.com. In the morning 03.01.2023 in the apartment there was an accident (burst a pipe with hot water, flooded all the apartments with boiling water) we immediately began to try to contact the owner and while waiting for him about 2 hours engaged in self-correcting the accident. We burnt our hands with boiling water. All our plans for that day were frustrate and cancelled. The owner called the master, who arrived after some time and began to carry out in the presence of us with a child welding works. As the master breached safety regulations when welding the pipe, he melted the entire back plastic wall under the sink (photo attached), after which the apartment began to smell strongly of formaldehyde. We were forced to leave the apartments and spend money on a restaurant to feed the baby. Although, considering our financial possibilities, we deliberately rented an apartment with a kitchen so that we could cook on our own. When we got back to the room (8pm) the formaldehyde smell was less, but it still smelled quite strong. We ventilated the apartment for 30 minutes but the strong odour hasn't gone away. We wanted to avoid complications and decided to stay in these apartments, but after 40 minutes everyone's got a headache, and everyone got very nauseous. We rang the doctor who told us that given the above circumstances it was UNSAFE FOR HEALTH to stay in this apartment. Apparently, it takes longer to ventilate the room from molten plastic fumes.

We could not sleep with open windows, as it was cold outside and the child was coughing. In order not to further poison ourselves and the child we had to search through booking.com and rent another apartment at night to spend the night. As we could not actually use the apartment «Apartamento con encanto» for twenty-four hours (whole day) and had to rent another apartment in order to spend the night in a safe environment. The owners said they didn't care and would not compensate us for anything, although even a booking.com employee insisted on it, as we had to rent an extra room. Apparently, the owners decided that everything that happened was our problem. The next day we realized that the shower stall was leaking and it was impossible to wash, only if you scooped water from the floor of the bathroom and the room. And so on....

Everything was super in the apartments, they are clean, modern and very well located. Awesome accomodation for 2 people in the center of Madrid
