Apartaments Mare Nostrum

Sitges is a great choice to stay outside of Barcelona. The village has its own charm, great restaurants, bakeries and shops, and is an easy and beautiful 45-min train ride from Sants station. Mare Nostrum is right across the street from a gorgeous beach. Our apartment did not face the sea, but it is easy to imagine that the units with ocean view are fabulous. Our host, Carol, was very sweet and helpful, and always available - if not downstairs (in their restaurant), then by phone or messaging. We would stay at Mare Nostrum again when we return to Barcelona.

We choose apartments so we can cook our own meals. The kitchen was a bit small and sparely equipped for our interests, but we got by. Be aware there is no lift. This was not an issue for us.

Great location, very comfortable and super tranquil - no noise from outside despite the busy beach! Would stay again absolutely!

Location was great, collection of keys easy and we arrived early but the appartment was ready. The appartment was very clean and the triple glasing cut out the noise from the street when we wanted to. Fantastic views from the balcony of the beach which is the main reason why we booked. It is very central for the town and beach just across the road.

The stairs to the apartment were steep and the layout of the bathroom was quite tight. The 2 steps down when the door opened to the apartment was a little dangerous when we arrived as we did not know where the light switch was and I fell into the apartment. Once used to it it wad OK.

The location was fantastic.

The apartment was different to the photos on the listing. We thought we were getting 2 bedrooms, but one of them was locked. We were told we would need to pay €36 per night for use of the second room. We haggled down to €150 for the week. Seemed like a scam to get you to pay more money. Also the aircon made a horrible droning sound every 2 minutes during the night, this resulted in 2 very bad nights sleep.

Cosy old apartment just beside old town and beach. We stayed on top floor which had excellent sun deck with stunning sea view. Kitchen had basic tools to cook.

Minor things (that did not bother us) - no lift, only small stairs - entrance to apartment is from restaurants terrace

Being right on the sea was priceless, with the French doors opening onto a small balcony. We were delighted to find that it was, in fact, a small apartment, with a full kitchen.
