"Beautiful apartment in Santiago de Compostela"

10.0

Clean, comfy apartment near Saint James Cathedral. Beautiful view of the cathedral and good central location. Nice supermarket just down the street.

There was noise from the neighbors that disturbed some of the people staying here.

"Nice stay"

7.0

The apartment was very spacious and very clean. The beds were comfortable with nice linens. There were plenty of towels and dishes. There is a washing machine in one bathroom that we used and hung the clothes out to dry on the line at the living room window. The location is excellent, a short walk from the cathedral and parking (we had a rental car) was relatively convenient, about two blocks away (and decidedly inexpensive). A couple of things were challenging (particularly for three senior citizens): First, the apartment is on the 2nd floor (that’s the third floor, if you’re an American) and there is no elevator - so pack light and plan on lugging it up the stairs. Second, if you are technically challenged, be warned that the “keys” to open the door are electronic and require you to download an app on your smart phone and have your reading glasses handy so you can see the tiny print that the app displays telling you which “button” to slide for which door. Don’t have a smart phone? Maybe the host has an alternative for you. IDK. You young folks won’t have any problem at all. BTW, the host likes to communicate using “WhatsApp” (which we have found common with European rentals). I do not use WhatsApp myself (and won’t) but the host provided a phone number for me to call and was very responsive when I did. Third, for the life of us, we could not figure out how to turn on the cooktop. If you are not familiar with European induction cooktops with slick lighting and few words, you, too, might have trouble. All we wanted was some boiling water, which we ended up making in the drip coffee maker (with coffee filter removed). None of these issues that we have would be problems for most young (or non-American) folks but I mention them because I like to read comments like these myself when I am researching where to stay. (continued)

(con't): There are far more positives about the apartment than my observations here, though. The host provided lots of coffee pods and tea bags (not sure where the hot water for the tea was supposed to come from w/out being able to turn on the stove, but that’s my problem). It is a very comfortable space and definitely a good deal for the area. My suggestions to our host would be: consider providing some written instructions for a few things that may not be familiar to your guests from other lands. The cook top, perhaps the window blinds (took me hours to find out how to put those up and down) and lastly, the tankless water heater would all be helpful to have some tips on using. We had no hot water on the morning that we left, which sucked, but wasn’t worth the time to try and resolve the reason as we had to go. There was some flashing code on the tankless water heater, but knowing nothing about this appliance, we didn’t want to touch anything in case we messed it up even more. So we simply did not shower and made up for it at our next stop.

"A lucky find…!!!"

10.0

What a great location…it was a short walk to the Cathedral that allowed us to escape the crowds around the Cathedral…loved the day and night views of the Cathedral from the apartment windows…there was no shortage of natural light (with efficient night blinds for sleeping in)…The apartment was spacious, very well stocked, very clean and nicely staged…the manager generously let us check in early and was so patient with us when we were having internet connectivity issues…It was a perfect choice for us!!!

You could hear some neighborly TVs but it shut off early and did not interfere with our sleep.
