I very rarely leave negative reviews mostly because I’m one of those mildly irritating people who can usually find something positive in just about anything. However settle in, because this one truly earned it. Let’s start with the positives. We arrived late at night and were met by Alberto, who was genuinely lovely and helpful—credit where it’s due. The accommodation itself was basic but clean, and the location was good. A little noisy, but nothing unmanageable if you’re used to staying in busier areas. Now, unfortunately, that’s where the positives start doing a disappearing act. The property is advertised as fully wheelchair accessible. As a frequent traveller with a wheelchair user in the family, I specifically filter for this—so this isn’t a casual preference, it’s a necessity. On arrival, it became immediately clear this simply wasn’t true. The bathroom door was too narrow for a wheelchair, making it effectively unusable for my son. “Accessible” appears to have been interpreted here as more of a loose aspiration than an actual feature. Also worth noting—out of five guests, only three beds were made up on arrival. Nothing quite says “welcome” like a late-night game of “who’s sharing and who’s improvising?” after a flight. The pool another key reason for booking was closed. This was particularly frustrating as I had messaged in advance to confirm it was open and was told it was. Interestingly, this was “updated” to closed for maintenance until June only after I raised the issue. Impeccable timing. Trying to resolve things with the owner was, frankly, exhausting. I reached out to ask if they could help us avoid the upheaval of moving by sourcing something as simple as a wheeled shower chair. This was refused later the same day. For context, I was travelling with three children and recovering from surgery—this trip was meant to be rest and recovery, not an extreme sport.
