No 4 at Simpson Street Apartments Sunderland

Overall excellent value for money and a great place to stay. We would definitely stay there again and found it a relatively easy 20/25 minute walk to the Stadium of Light for a concert. With a few minor alternations it could be fabulous but as a short term stay it was great. Positives: Car parking is easy with lots of spaces. Large and spacious apartment done to a good standard. Well equipped for self catering. There is a fabulous sized fridge freezer and proper cooking facilities. Bed is a standard double size. We slept very well. WiFi was excellent. Although close to a major road we had no issues with noise and it does make access to and from the property really convenient When walking to town we stuck to the main road route and it was safe and well lit. Access with a key code and key safe box worked very well.

Ideas to improve: No mirror anywhere in the apartment except in the bathroom. For most ladies (and probably a lot of men too) this is a big issue when blow drying or straightening hair and applying makeup. We had only one drinking glass, one dinner plate, no dustpan and brush to sweep up any crumbs etc. There is an iron but no ironing board. The TV was tiny compared to the size of the apartment and was a real challenge to get working. It took us ages to even get the basic channels. We did notice that the main front door is not self closing and could easily be left open. Maybe fitting a door closing spring would help with security. The towels have seen better days and really let down the quality of the bathroom. Bring shampoo / conditioner / body wash. Two small bars of soap were provided.

There wasn't a brush to sweep up. Not a massive deal but I like keeping things clean. There was also a slat broken on the bed

It was a clean, spacious, place.

Have some toiletries for guests.

Very nice apt in a strange location. It was well furnished.

It suited me for business but it's not a pleasant location situated on a busy dual carriageway junction on the edge of an industrial estate. Nothing picturesque at all.
