6 Dbl Bed, Central Huddersfield house inc parking

Functional for our 3 days and was a good base for our stay. All facilities available, plenty of tea and coffee, utensils, toilet rolls, iron, TV in all rooms. Fit for purpose to suit our needs.

Upon arrival there was a distinctive musty smell in the main living space that remained for the stay. Strong smell of what seemed to be urine at the bottom of the staircase. House was visibly clean to the eye however it wasn’t fresh. Only One towel provided per person for 3 days stay. Poor attention to detail on the finish. Great potential in this property but requires some repairs inside and out.

It was spotlessly clean, with new towels, clean white sheets and in a quiet area. There was a grocery shop less than 5 mins walk. We went for a walk along the river where we saw numerous birds.

Only a minor thing; there was no shower gel in the bathrooms.

The lack of a toilet in the second floor.

Plenty of space for everyone, downstairs was comfortable, 3 toilets, good shower, oven, hob and fridge good, tv size downstairs good, parking on drive convenient, short drive to shops and perfect for what we needed.

None of the bathroom doors fit well which apart from being annoying, made it impossible to go to the toilets quietly in the night. The taps were on backwards and some very wobbly, beds have seen better days (some of us slept ok and others struggled), tv was on a weird bracket that held it at a very odd slant, need more cooking utensils (like slotted spoon and serving spoon). Just small things really. The biggest issue was that I requested a late checkout because it was my daughter’s 18th after a family wedding the night before so we wanted a leisurely breakfast. I noticed the payment was still pending and called to check. We were given an apology as they hadn’t received the request so would get back to me. We were then told that unfortunately, as someone wanted to check in at 2pm the following day we couldn’t have the late checkout. I offered to strip all the beds and make sure everywhere was as we found it (we did this anyway) but was told it was impossible to clean it in the time. I then asked if we could check out at 1130 (instead of 10am and the extended time of 1pm) but was told that this wasn’t enough time. Helen was very nice and really apologised and communicated well by answering my calls and messages. It was a bit frustrating when it’s an offered option but my point really is to check early on if you do book late check out as the messages aren’t always getting through.

We're a big family, so it's hard to find somewhere to stay that will accommodate us all within a budget. This property did that perfectly. The price was spot on. It was comfortable with plenty of room, so we weren't on top of each other. We will definitely be staying again.

Mattress could use a little upgrade comfortable enough to sleep on, but considering the high standards across the rest of the property, that is the only improvement I can suggest.

The owner was extremely helpful and obliging.

Cosy space. Nice location, walking distance to centre.

Not very clean. kitchen needs a good deep clean. I had to wash everything before to use any plates or cutlery. Side gate needs repairs, not easy to open.
