Melford Allotment Shed-Vintage Lodge Suffolk

Everything, it was a brilliant stay from start to finish, the breakfast hamper that Joanna left for us was lovely and lasted us the 3 days we stayed, so many great pubs and takeaways in the village to choose from, we had a lovely curry from Melford valley tandoori and a cracking Sunday lunch in the Crown. So quiet and peaceful, heard a pair of Tawney owls most nights, I can imagine in the summer the garden is a brilliant sun trap. Would definitely return, thank you Joanna.

The host was really lovely, great communication. The property was spotlessly clean, very well equipped with lots of lovely personal touches and thoughtful extras. We couldn't have wished for a cosier stay! 😊

Beautiful, clean accommodation with so much thought given to all the finishing touches. We love wartime nostalgia and vintage pieces and the Allotment shed had it in spades. We loved the inspiration for the decor coming from memories of a childhood spent with her Grandparents. Joanna was a very kind, thoughtful host. Starting with a WhatsApp video directing us to the accommodation we then arrived to find a breakfast basket, orange juice, milk, a selection of herbal teas, coffee, decaffeinated coffee, hot chocolate.... all tastes catered for. Any messages sent to Joanna were swiftly replied to. The Allotment shed is in the heart of Long Melford, walkable to all local shops, pubs and restaurants. Lovely Lavenham is a very short drive, or bus trip away. We were celebrating our Silver Wedding Anniversary and Joanna went to the trouble of leaving a card and some lovely chocolates. I would recommend the Melford Valley Tandoori for a cracking Indian meal and the local bakery served delicious sausage rolls.

We had hoped to visit the Long Melford Heritage Centre before we left but it was shut despite online opening hours saying it would open at 10am on Wednesdays.

Great accommodation and base to explore the local area. 5 mins from Long Melford town centre with lots of shops and pubs. Loved the look of the Allotment Shed with plates, cups, hangers, etc. all gardening themed. We ventured out to Bury St. Edmunds, Sudbury, Dedham Vale (Constable Country) - all within driving distance. Locally we went to Kentwell Hall during a week long Tudor festival.

It was a little warm inside during the recent hot weather - but this was August and the hottest days of the year. We used the supplied fan to help cool us down.

Lovely welcome pack, good shower, lovely little garden for sitting out. Excellent position in village.
