Chez Mannion

The location was fantastic! The place was so comfortable and perfect for what we needed The bed in the master is like sleeping on a cloud. The crockery is adorable. The whole aesthetic is beautiful and luxurious.

Check it is a bit difficult esp if you have been driving 4hrs, with three young children and have lots of luggage. Going through several doors and the back courtyard of a cafe (whose staff are lovely and kind) and up a big flight of stairs can be tricky. Wifi was terrible at times and really only works well in the living room and kitchen. Also there was a shortage no bread/table knifes. Overal it was fantastic and none of these issue really effected our stay

Fantastic location, really central. The apartment was spotless and had everything we needed for our stay. The beds were super comfy and we loved the historic quirks of the building.

Note: to access you are going through the non-public parts of a working cafe (bin store's etc.) and the courtyard of the cafe so there are members of the public sitting at the bottom of the access stairs/outside space during opening hours. Didn't bother us but might if you want something truly private.

Everything, but especially the decor. The house felt like a home away from home. Central but on a lovely quiet road so sleeping was uninterrupted. I did not want to leave.

Absolutely nothing. The house was absolutely perfect and I wish I lived there! My husband and I will be stopping with you again, in December. We usually use another well known apartment company in York but we think Stays have now taken top spot for us!

The location is superb, we loved the history, it was an overall comfortable stay.

The way to get to the apartment is through a back gate leading through a shed used as storage by the downstairs bistro. You have to enter two codes to get in and you squeeze through the shed which is very uncomfortable with bags and nearly impossible with a stroller. The main doors do not close if you don't use the key and the hood in the kitchen did not work, we found an airpod case in on of the beds and rubbish behind a mirror in the bedroom. Overall it could do with a little update and better upkeep for the price. It felt more like an airbnb than a homely home.

Easy key collection. Brilliant location. Lovely quirky property. Nicely fitted out. Loved that we could see and hear York Minster. Back facing bedrooms nice and quiet. Lots of fluffy white towels and bedding. Well fitted kitchen. Nice atmosphere.

Better lighting leading to property. Better instructions to operate heating as could be cold at night. Need an extra set of keys in property given it sleeps five. Front facing room noisy at night due to drunk passers by but this isn’t owner’s fault. Bring ear plugs!

Good proximity to city centre.

The entrance and exit through the cafe and the 'shed' was poor. We didn't know about this prior to booking and was both inconvenient to cafe users and ourselves, and embarrassing each time we had to walk through. The cafe staff were lovely about it, but the property really should have had a separate entrance. The staircase to the property was dirty and deck not cleaned ready for use. It also overlooked the cafe which meant you couldn't be outside when the cafe was open, again this was not mentioned in the advert. There were also a few parts to the property where items needed replacing such as the very damaged curtains, and the bin lid was broken.

Lots of character and excellent location.
