Kirkaig Lodge

The location was remote, we loved the wild and lonely feel. The rooms are furnished to a high standard and the shower was powerful . The owner has created a little path to a viewing point which gives the most spectacular view. Seeing the highland cows was a bonus.

The owner was not very welcoming on our arrival. We were given three tea bags and 4 biscuits for a two night stay. When we asked for more we were given tea bags but told that they only supply 1 biscuit per person per night which considering the money we paid was ridiculous. We were also completely underwhelmed by the breakfast for the money charged.

Drive from Lochinver was a bit challenging initially.

It was a really lovely room and also we were given a complementary small drink of whiskey provided in the room which was a nice touch. The room itself had everything you would require and also including a mini fridge which is really handy. A beautiful sofa to sit on and a separate table and chairs as it was a very large room we had. The bathroom/shower was huge and really lovely and could not fault with complimentary shower gel and shampoo to use. The owner of the property is very lovely and friendly I went the extra mile to make sure you are happy and provided everything you need. Breakfast was also very delicious I was very lovely. I'd definitely recommend to stay at the property for anyone reading this review.

The impact of the location, building, spacious room, stunning bathroom & view.... brilliant. Heaps of space, top bathroom fixtures & fittings, shower pressure, best bed yet & a complimentary wee dram 🥃 😋. Jacqueline a wonderful hostess, checked in with us to make sure we were sound & breakfast needs....which was delicious.

The long driveway was a bit of an initial 😲, could concern some, but the adventure 🏍️ enjoyed it, did it in a canter...then you're used to it ..

Staff were very friendly.

Was a bit out of the way, but hospitality made up for that.

De ligging is fantastisch, tien minuten rijden buiten Lochinver. Uitzicht op zee en de ondergaande zon (wij hadden het geluk twee wolkenloze dagen te beleven). De kamer is erg ruim en heeft ook uitzicht op zee. In het dorpje kun je lekker eten, is een terras en kun je mooie boottochten boeken om dolfijnen te spotten. Er is een kleine supermarkt beschikbaar.

We voelden ons niet erg welkom. De ontvangst door een grommende- en blaffende hond was niet fijn, mede dankzij de laconieke opmerking van de eigenaar dat de hond harder blafte dan beet en verder nooit buiten kwam. Op de tweede avond was de hond (pitbull) wel degelijk buiten toen wij van het zonnetje aan het genieten waren. Het inchecken was kort en zeer minimaal informatief. De wifi werd doorgegeven, de sleutel afgegeven en de whiskey werd aangewezen. Ontbijttijd doorgegeven en dat was het. Niet erg verwelkomend…. Het ontbijt is goed, maar beide dagen hetzelfde. Met name het hard gekookte ei, dat al gepeld is, viel niet in de smaak. De gastvrouw deed haar best, maar ons kleine wasje mocht in eerste instantie niet buiten gehangen worden. Een vreemde reactie aangezien er een wasrekje in de kamer staat, later mocht er toch wat aan de privé waslijn gehangen worden. In de avond vlogen we een stukje met de drone over het water en de kust maar de eigenaresse stormde naar buiten en verzocht ons onmiddellijk op te houden ivm schending van de privacy, hetgeen bijzonder is als je een B&B runt waar de mensen rondlopen in je eigen huis en er een kapsalon aan huis is. Dat had wel wat vriendelijker gemogen. Ondanks alle andere (zeer) positieve reacties voor ons niet de top locatie waarop we gehoopt hadden.
