The Little Elbow Room

Really comfortable, great location, flexible host. I liked the small touches, proper teapot, cosy and milk jug! Everything has been carefully thought about. It's quiet and warm.

Warm & comfortable & very close to high street with its many restaurants & shops. Also close to railway station & bus stop.

The owner met us and handed over the keys on arrival and was very welcoming and informative. He explained shortcuts to the high street, where the supermarkets were and gave us a free parking permit to use in the car park opposite. The location could not be better as it’s a short step to a multitude of restaurants, bars and the market. There was milk in the fridge, plenty of kitchen equipment, crockery etc, the basic condiments in the cupboard and washing up liquid provided. There was a lovely bunch of fresh roses on the table.

My only complaint about this great property is that the parking permit provided is for the adjacent public car park. That in itself is good, but the problem is that it's a small and very busy car park and getting a space is sometimes a problem. The property would be a perfect choice if parking could be provided on the property itself.

Our host Roger goes above & beyond for his guests. The little flat has everything we needed. Even supplying us rides from the train station on Arrival at 930 pm and departure by bus at 7am. We had a couple requests. The heat was not warm enough for us and rodger turned it up immediately upon request. We had a problem with the key getting stuck and the lock was repaired. The rooms were lovely. Fresh clean linen. A little wash machine was wonderful to use after we figured it out. Rodger has been hosting for many years. A true delight to have conversation with about totnes and surrounding area. If I'm ever to go to totnes again would book the little elbow room again. The location was walking distance for everything we needed. The natural food store right across the street. The hill going up and down the main street of shops. Totnes castle was a block away. Excellent choice !

The flat was cold for the first night. I think it was 20c and my friend was very uncomfortable and couldn't get warm, even standing in front of the nice little electric fireplace. Rodger turned the heat up the next day when we asked. The heart was still off because of summer .

Fantastic position, private and secluded whilst being so near to High Street.

Our host picked us up at the train station. The appartement was very english in the best sense of the word and very cosy. We loved the sight of the castle and the church from our balcony and the short way through the garden to the main street and met very friendly neighbours. We spent a wonderful time there.

The location is excellent for access to the main shopping street & Market Square of Totnes. If arriving by car there is free parking on the car park directly opposite the prooerty which is very convenient. The outside terrace was an absolute delight & bonus, very private and peaceful & it was lovely to hear the church bells & clock chiming. The property is very quaint, like stepping back in time which is in keeping with Totnes as the town is very similar. The property was clean, the kitchen provided everything that we needed and the built in dvd player on the TV was very useful. The bathroom was modern with a lovely large walk in shower. Roger, the host, was very friendly and helpful.

Our only disappointment was that it was listed as a double bed and 2 singles and as it was not a king size bed, which we are used to, I thought we would have the room with the 2 singles but it was actually only one single in the second bedroom so we had to sleep in separate rooms for the week. If you can manage with a regular 4'6" double bed then this would not be a problem. We arrived on foot by train and it is a very steep climb from the train station and bottom end of the town up to the property which would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. There are a number of steps up to the property so again anyone with mobility issues would find it a little difficult.
