Do not go anywhere near this hotel! Especially with children. Not only do they ask for £100 deposit after paying for the hotel they then do not return it and have gone on to take further money from my account! I’m in total shock and will be reporting this hotel as fraudulent! The area is dangerous and walking to the local shop to it water we were very intimidated by the gangs of men lingering on corners.. we then got spat at and this has now given my 13 year old daughter anxiety! Please stay away from Avo run apartments .. I even spoke to a lady who asked me about my stay and I lied and said it was fine as I had a feeling I was going to be scammed to said I would give a good review when my deposit was returned. A hotel managed from a call centre. Up to now they have taken £240 from my account. Disgusting dangerous fraudulent hotel!

Go given key to an already occupied room to open the door to someone in bed shouting at us totally unacceptable

Bessemer house as a very nice mood we went many times on the past and really liked it ...

We had stayed in three different Bessemer house apartments over the past three years. This is the second time we stay in Apartment “2” is the. Unfortunately as with the first stay and the comments we raised then the bedroom is just too bright to sleep in comfortably at night with the light for the outside floodlights pearling straight between the Venetian blinds and overpowering the blinds themselves, even when closed. We had raised this comment before and suggested providing blackout curtains. We see three years on that has not happened. In addition, the various cutlery and utensils and earthware seem to be missing making the stay far less homey as it was the case before. In our previous stay, there was a base minimum of kitchen items and cleaning products including plastic bags for trash, and other cleaning products, and cleaning chemicals and cloths which although inexpensive added much comfort to our stay since we are from out of town, we did not need to worry about these small items which in reality once we left, obviously we left whatever unused behind as well as replenished whatever needed to be replenished. On this stay from day one we had to go shopping for the items. Additionally, the freezer was totally encapsulated in ice and rendered useless, and we had to spend over an hour carefully and gently removing the ice in order to have some utility of the freezer and cleaning old gunk. Similarly, the fridge was not immediately usable as it was not clean enough to place fresh foods. The weight scale in the toilet does not work presumably there is no battery and the light above the sink is burned so applying cleaning and beauty products in front of the mirror was limited. The window in the toilet does not close well allowing for much heat to escape or more to the point much cold and rain to enter. We had to turn on the heater just to keep things in balance. I’m sure if the window could have been securely closed much heating would have been unnecessary.

The bed was a little low down, not the best for someone who can’t bend down

We got lots of detailed instructions for arrival, collecting the keys from a lockbox on site. The apartment was great, very clean, nicely decorated and big, with a really great modern en suite. The building is a big old grand apartment block on the outskirts of town near Kelham Island.

The building isn't in the centre of town and there's really nothing very local in terms of restaurants, bars, shops etc, but it's just a short 5 min drive or taxi into town or to Kelham Island

Great use of space Everything was great
